Fed up with being locked out of the process, Texas Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw is calling out the Democrats for their lack of “transparency” and potential violations of House rules in the way they’ve conducted their impeachment inquiry.
In a video posted on social media Wednesday, Crenshaw highlighted a clause from “Rules of the House of Representatives” that contradicts what House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff has claimed as a rationale to prevent Republicans from witnessing or even reviewing transcripts of the hearings and depositions he and other Democratic leaders have been holding related to their impeachment inquiry.
“So, Chairman Adam Schiff says that non-committee members can’t have access to all the hearings and depositions that have been happening with respect to the impeachment inquiry,” Crenshaw said in a video he posted to Twitter Thursday (video below). “Is that true?”
“It just so happens that I have a ‘House Rules and Manuel’ right here in front of me,” he continued. “So let’s check the House Rules.”
Crenshaw then pointed to a passage on page 568, as noted by RedState, which reads, “all committee records (including hearings, data, charts, and files) shall be kept separate and distinct from the congressional office records of the member serving as its chair. Such records shall be the property of the House, and each Member, Delegate, and the Resident Commissioner shall have access thereto.”
In other words, said Crenshaw, “we can actually go look at them.”
“So let’s go down to where they keep these records and see if they give us access — so we can inform you, the American people, what’s really going on with this impeachment inquiry,” he said.
Crenshaw then walked down to where the records are kept and attempted to get access to transcripts from the impeachment inquiry interviews. He came out frustrated, though not surprised.
“They won’t let me see it. Big surprise,” he said. “They say non-committee members can’t review any of these transcripts, any of these depositions that have been happening over this last week.”
“They say only committee members can see it, but the truth is I’ve spoken to some of these committee members,” he continued, “and they’ve been sending letters requesting to see it as well, to get an appointment to see it, as they’ve been told the proposal allowed them. And they’ve been told no also.”
“So what is the process? Where is the transparency?” he asked. “There’s none. And that should frustrate all Americans.”
“Adam Schiff isn’t allowing Reps. to see the transcripts from this impeachment inquiry, but selectively leaks small portions to the press,” Crenshaw posted in a tweet along with the video of his thwarted attempt to see the records. “This process should be transparent to the American people. It should be a fair process w/ clear rules, just like past impeachment inquiries.”

As reported by The Daily Wire, 21 Republican House members sent a letter Tuesday to Schiff protesting a rule imposed by the House Intelligence chairman restricting their access to the impeachment inquiry documents.
“To date, your Ukraine ‘joint investigation’ has operated almost exclusively within the jurisdiction of the Committee on Foreign Affairs. So I was shocked to be informed yesterday that you will not be providing deposition and interview transcripts from this supposed ‘joint inquiry’ to the Foreign Affairs Committee. Your staff claims that the only way we will have access to the transcripts is in your offices, during designated hours, under the personal supervision and monitoring of a majority staffer.”
This requirement, the Republicans wrote, is “outrageous and unjustifiable to deny us those basic documents, which are critical to our ability to meaningfully prepare for and participate in this investigation.” The group demanded “the same access to the same documents in the same format, as is enjoyed by you and your staff.”

Kate Kane (acted by Ruby Rose) is a moneyed liberal with profound “daddy issues” and a supermodel’s mug. We’re told her dream is to work for her father’s Gotham security agency, “The Crows,” and because Jacob Kane is too protective to allow his daughter to be a Crow, she goes into a deep depression and is transformed into an icy postpunk avatar that looks like a cross between a mall-punk and depressed Rachel Maddow.
“But first, I had to convince my dad I was ready,” she tells us, as she returns to Gotham to gain the approval of her father. You’re the “female Bruce Wayne,” Jacob Kane tells her daughter, who never protests the indignity of being framed as a less convincing female version of a one-percenter playboy. We’re also told that Batman is an “outdated tradition,” which Kate decides is her destiny when Batman goes missing for three years. The decision to become the CEO of an “outdated tradition” is, dare I say it, a conservative one.
Rachel Maddow is the voice of radio host Vesper Fairchild, who plays loosely with the facts by describing Batwoman as a “curvier and sexier” Batman, when actress Ruby is practically heroin chic. Antiseptically modeled after Rooney Mara’s grittier and more gutter punk Lisbeth Salander, Rose is tattooed, wears a leather jacket and rides a black motorcycle, but unlike Mara’s shocking transformation in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Rose’s Kate Kane feels inauthentic and as emotionally vacant as Ivan Drago as the The Punisher.
While Rose has said she suffers from childhood trauma, she lacks the Stanislavskian skills to inject them into her personality. But she’s aesthetically correct—too correct. In fact, she’s as polished as a teen idol, rather than a tough street-urchin or rugged survivalist. Ruby Rose looks like a Hot Topic mannequin in her freshly pressed Ramones t-shirt and designer leather jacket that’s as unworn as her boots.
The only thing organic about Ruby Rose is her diet.
Rose’s personality is as frigid as a Soviet geologist studying glacial ice, which makes her incapable of translating emotion into a moving camera. She’s a gorgeous model that’s suited for glossy magazine shoots in Vogue and GQ that capture the sharp contours of her face and those big kryptonite-colored eyes, but never sizzles enough to radiate through the motion picture camera. Even when she’s stylishly designed like a postmodern Marlene Dietrich, Rose cannot command the camera with the sort of gamine mischievousness expected of a queer icon. There is no music in her voice and while a damp personality can be overcome with damaged sex appeal and elusive otherworldliness (see Kristen Stewart in Twilight), Rose suffers from having the kind of chiseled beauty that’s unrelatable and distant. She is the perfect assassin or YSL model who never speaks a word, but she is dreadfully ill-suited to be a relatable role model as she’s as emotionally diverse as an icepick.
But she’s got the resume. Kate is gay and vegan (so is Rose); Kate suffers from childhood trauma (check, Rose), but rather than being a tough broad who refuses to be defined by her sexuality or the cisgender men in her life, she’s a gay stereotype: an emotionally dizzy rebel who fails to gain the acceptance of her father, and eventually falls in love with someone who is too handcuffed to the patriarchy to be openly gay.
Along with her “daddy issues,” this an overused trope, where the more brazen gay lead can’t convince a timid gay supporting actor to run away with them. We’ve seen this story in practically every teen drama in the past three decades, and showrunner Caroline Dries (executive producer, Vampire Diaries) has failed the audience by recycling it the way Disney recycles its own IP.
Kate Kane, presumably a feminist, lacks any self-determination and governance over her own future, which has been determined by the actions of two men: her overprotective dad, and Batman, her cousin, whose grappling hook fails to rescue Kate’s mother and sister inside a crashed car that dangles off a bridge. Like cousin Bruce, the trauma of watching her loved ones die is how Kate is pushed towards vigilantism.
She’s not only trapped in the shadow of the bat; she is a prisoner of a culture governed by unimaginative marketing professionals who believe superheroes ought to be used as slick political billboards, rather than vehicles for fantasy fulfillment or artistic exploration. It’s a new kind of studio exploitation in the era of #MeToo, where blogger headlines have replaced the ferocious and feisty dialogue of femme fatales like Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman and Sharon Stone’s unapologetically sexy sociopath in Basic Instinct.
With the sexually dominant and voluptuous heroine (or villainous b*tch in Basic Instinct) now banished from Hollywood’s more “SJW” productions, we’ve been gifted with dreary characters that have no command over their identity or sexual powers. In editing the male gaze into tastelessly microwavable feminist tropes, Hollywood has managed to produce an artistic typo: lefty-feminist heroines who’ve been polished and edited into buzzwordy marketing campaigns that are completely allergic to sort of brutally individualistic feminism that fueled Sigourney Weaver’s flamethrower in 1979’s Alien.
Rose doesn’t look like a combat-ready athlete, either, which suggests CW wanted a pop star, not a martial artist; not the sinewy gender-neutral pugnacity of Demi Moore in G.I. Jane, who trained like a Navy SEAL for the role, who was not interested in being a poster girl for women’s rights, and yet I cannot think of a more empowering visual than Demi Moore doing single-handed pushups with a shaved head.
In a tragically shortsighted attempt to stay true to the source material, CW’s Batwoman refuses to move beyond unrealistic superhero costumes—which would work if this show had any sense of humor, which it does not. “It will be [perfect], when it [batsuit] fits a woman,” as eyeballs of millions collectively rolled behind their skulls.
Her vain desire to add flaming-red hair extensions to her suit continues in the tradition of superheroines designed to look like BDSM porn stars, which Rose defends with a line written in the framework of a Tumblr meme: “I’m not about to let a man take credit for a woman’s work.” This is a confusing statement, as it’s written as a feminist comment on workplace equality, but transforms Batwoman into a grabby double agent of the patriarchy.
The show’s aesthetic is a mirror reflection of the austere and rigid acting of its lead. Fox’s Gotham looked like a cartoonish goth nightmare blended with Victorian architecture and snappy glamour of ‘30s gangster films. Gotham was showy and animated camp, with theatrical production design that wrapped itself around its characters like an amusement park ride dressed in the decadent art deco of Cedric Gibbons. CW has reintroduced Gotham as a decaying Soviet republic, where the filming locations (Vancouver and Chicago) are made to look like brutalist rebukes of the completely flamboyant aesthetic of Gotham.

Jerry Seinfeld unofficially kicked off comedy’s woke counterpunch all the way back in 2015.
The “Seinfeld” alum declared at the time why he no longer performs for college students. They get offended by jokes told by one of the culture’s cleanest, least incendiary, minds.
Seinfeld struck a nerve. Still, most comedians either silently applauded the sitcom superstar or hoped the subject would just go away. Many didn’t want to get their hands dirty in the fight.
That’s no longer an option. A recent string of high-profile comments brought “Cancel Culture” to the fore. Stand-up routines by Dave Chappelle, Bill Burr and Sebastian Maniscalo forced the subject back into the limelight.
“No Safe Spaces,” a documentary about the Left’s serial attacks on free expression, debuts this weekend at the near-perfect time. Comedian Adam Carolla and syndicated radio star Dennis Prager unite to explore how universities are clamping down on healthy debate, and why that woke sentiment is leaking into society at large.
“Joker” director Todd Phillips, who previously helmed the “Hangover” series, amplified the cause. He told Vanity Fair he created “Joker” because making comedies is no longer fun.
“Go try to be funny nowadays with this woke culture,” he says. “There were articles written about why comedies don’t work anymore—I’ll tell you why, because all the f***ing funny guys are like, ‘F*** this s***, because I don’t want to offend you.’
Given the cresting wave of pro-free speech sentiment, you’d think even more comedians would be lining up to defend their right to free expression.
And you’d be wrong.
For every comic ready to lash out against woke rules, another is happy to abide by them.
Take comic actor Nick Kroll, the former star of FX’s “The League.” Kroll’s Netflix series “Big Mouth” got attacked by woke scolds for “incorrectly” telling jokes tied to bisexuals and the trans community.
Kroll meekly apologized, and then he doubled down.
“I’m of the opinion, personally, we have this ability to listen and communicate with the audience and hear what they have to say. And sometimes, I’m like, ‘I don’t agree with you.’ And other times I’m like ‘Yeah, I hear you. We didn’t get that exactly right. We’ll do better….’”
“I think that you can still talk about anything and be crazy and not feel too censored,” he said. “It’s a trickier time, but also we have a show where a boy sends a d*** pic to his cousin that he made out with. You can still do and say some pretty crazy, wild s***.”
Marc Maron, the overrated comic and host of the “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast, also thinks woke culture is just fine, thank you. Maron played the ludicrous “punching down” card to explain why.
“Really, the only thing that’s off the table, culturally, at this juncture — and not even entirely — is shamelessly punching down for the sheer joy of hurting people,” he continued. “For the sheer excitement and laughter that some people get from causing people pain, from making people uncomfortable, from making people feel excluded. Ya know, that excitement.”
YouTube star turned late-late night host Lilly Singh is also on Team Woke.
Singh, who possesses 1/24th of the career of the “Hangover” director, blasted Phillips for “whining” about woke culture on her new show “A Little Late.”
Singh pointed to popular comedy projects made during the woke era, like “Fleabag” and “Bridesmaids,” as if that’s a rational argument.
Hey, we didn’t burn ALL the books, amirite?
Singh next played the gender card.
“And get this. Women play characters that aren’t strippers or nagging wives or super hot chicks that sleep with Ed Helms even though Bradley Cooper is right there.”
She then mocked Phillips for writing the 2006 dud “School for Scoundrels,” saying, “turns you couldn’t write comedy in the pre-woke era, either.”
Yes, Singh ignored Phillips’ work on the massively successful “Hangover” trilogy, the beloved “Old School” and “Road Trip.” Oh, Phillips also boasts a story credit on “Borat.”
Then again, Singh crushes it on YouTube.
You can read these woke defenders’ comments in two ways. That’s how they really feel about the issue … or they’re trying to stay a few steps ahead of the Woke Police. Look at Kroll’s previous white-dude-bro-comedy “The League,” a show that might get hammered by social justice scolds had it debuted in 2019.
Five white friends, and one long-suffering spouse, flex their privilege each Sunday? The mind reels…
Some comedians who previously backed woke culture have had a change of heart – for pragmatic reasons. Sarah Silverman is a prime example. She once threw her arms around our woke age.
“I think it’s a sign of being old if you’re put off by that … you have to listen to the college-aged because they lead the revolution,” she told Vanity Fair in 2015.
Earlier this year, she revealed how she lost a juicy film role because she dressed in blackface a decade earlier. It didn’t matter that she repeatedly apologized or that the show’s message wasn’t racist at all.
Now, she’s not a woke fan, calling Cancel Culture “righteousness porn.”
Will Kroll, Maron and Singh see the light on those woke handcuffs? Or will it take getting pulled over by the PC Police before that happens?

Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) revealed on Friday that if he is elected to the office of the presidency, he will authorize a surcharge on companies that manufacture firearms in order to fund his proposed federally mandated gun confiscation plan.
“I think a mandatory buyback can be financed with a surcharge that would be paid by gun manufacturers,” O’Rourke told CBS News reporter Tim Perry. “Those who are making the AR-15s and AK-47s, and continue to sell them into our communities despite the terror that they have inspired and the lives that they have taken.”
“I think this is the right way to fund a mandatory buyback, without imposing any new taxes on our fellow Americans,” he added.
The former congressman has faced widespread criticism for demanding that the federal government seize millions of firearms from law-abiding citizens. However, he has also been notably vague about many aspects of the proposed government-run program, including how much it would cost American taxpayers.
O’Rourke was the first major 2020 Democratic presidential candidate to endorse a nationwide gun confiscation program for so-called “assault weapons,” but a host of his primary challengers have since followed suit, including Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Kamala Harris (D-CA), and Cory Booker (D-NJ). To date, none of the candidates have provided a clear definition of what they believe constitutes an “assault weapon.”
While O’Rourke has stated that his proposal would not require law enforcement officers to go door-to-door to confiscate weapons, he has yet to explain how the law would be enforced in the event that Americans refuse to voluntarily turn over their own firearms to the government.
Perry pressed O’Rourke further on whether the plan is too “retroactive” given that he would not be proactively taking firearms off the street.
“If we’re able to pass mandatory buybacks, if I’m able to sign that into law, then I fully expect our fellow Americans to turn in their AR-15s and their AK-47s,” O’Rourke replied. “For anyone who does not and is caught in possession or seen in possession of one of these weapons of war, one of these instruments of terror, that weapon will be taken from them, and they will be fined.”
“And if they should persist in continuing to use and to buy these weapons, there will be other consequences in the criminal code,” he added without elaborating.
The Democratic presidential hopeful’s gun confiscation plan is so radical that even members of his own party have been distancing themselves from it. Many Democrats, including those in leadership, have been sounding the alarm that such an anti-Second Amendment idea will backfire and simply fire up the Republican base.
O’Rourke, however, has touted the bipartisan condemnation as a signal that the former Texas lawmaker is being authentic.
“It shows me we are doing something right,” O’Rourke told reporters when asked about both President Donald Trump and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s disapproval.
O’Rourke has repeatedly claimed that he is not “talking about confiscating anybody’s guns.” PolitiFact, the left-leaning fact check site, has rated that claim as “false.”

Appearing recently on “The Jenny McCarthy Show” on SeriusXM, actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who was there to promote his new movie “The Current War,” offered his take on the unfolding Scorsese-Marvel war of words.
Cumberbatch has played the character of Doctor Stephen Strange in Marvel’s “Doctor Strange,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Avengers: Endgame,” and the upcoming “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”
Despite the increasingly hyperbolic and nasty back and forth between certain filmmakers and Disney/Marvel supporters, Cumberbatch found a way to thread the needle:
I know there’s been a lot of debate recently with these very fine filmmakers coming to the fore saying that these film franchises are taking over everything, but lucky us actors who get to do both kinds of variety at either polarity of budgeting. And I agree, you know. We don’t want one king to rule it all and have a kind of monopoly, and hopefully that’s not the case, and we should really look into continuing to support auteur filmmakers at every level.
Paul Rudd, also a Marvel alum, having appeared as Scott Lang in two “Ant-Man” films, as well as “Avengers: Endgame,” offered his opinion on the matter when asked by radio host Howard Stern.
“I’m not insulted by anybody saying anything, really,” Rudd said after being asked by Stern if he was “insulted” by Scorsese’s remarks.
When Stern further asked if Marvel is “cinema,” Rudd stated: “I think it is.”
The actor added:
Ultimately, you really care about relationships with people. It isn’t all just special effects-driven action – whatever genre it falls into – you want to see people in human behavior and talking to each other. I know that when we’re working on these things, we care about the characters. In “Ant-Man,” I have a whole relationship with my daughter, and the human struggles of being a superhero. I think we’re trying to deal with human issues and things that are relatable, that are not just rides.
Rudd said that the way in which studios work today, they’re not making as many middle-budget films, which is why many writers are migrating to TV.
This ongoing controversy all began when legendary director Martin Scorsese told Empire Magazine that he doesn’t consider Marvel movies “cinema.”
“I don’t see them. I tried, you know? But that’s not cinema,” Scorsese said. “Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.”
Adding fuel to the fire, director Francis Ford Coppola took it one step further, calling the movies “despicable.”
When Martin Scorsese says that the Marvel pictures are not cinema, he’s right, because we expect to learn something from cinema, we expect to gain something, some enlightenment, some knowledge, some inspiration. I don’t know that anyone gets anything out of seeing the same movie over and over again. … Martin was kind when he said it’s not cinema. He didn’t say it’s despicable, which I just say it is.
Scorsese added to his initial remarks while on a panel at the London Film Festival.
“What has to be protected is the singular experience of experiencing a picture, ideally with an audience. But there’s room for so many others now, and so many other ways,” the director said. “There’s going to be crossovers, completely. The value of a film that’s like a theme park film, for example, the Marvel-type pictures, where the theaters become amusement parks, that’s a different experience. I was saying earlier, it’s not cinema, it’s something else.”

The House Ethics Committee announced this week that it has started an investigation into Democratic freshman Delegate Michael F. Q. San Nicolas of Guam, a non-voting member of the House of Representatives, over allegations that he had a sexual relationship with a congressional staff member.
“The Committee is aware of public allegations that Delegate Michael F. Q. San Nicolas may have engaged in a sexual relationship with an individual on his congressional staff, converted campaign funds to personal use, and/or accepted improper or excessive campaign contributions,” the committee said in a statement. “The Committee, pursuant to Committee Rule 18(a), has begun an investigation and will gather additional information regarding the allegations.”
John Paul Manuel – the former chief of staff and senior aide campaign official for San Nicolas – accused him in September of “using funds raised for his congressional campaign as reimbursements for an alleged foreign trip and hotel stays with his alleged mistress,” according to The Guam Daily Post.
Manuel also alleged that his former boss hired his alleged mistress to be part of his congressional staff.
Manuel also accused San Nicolas of forgery, saying: “He forged his father’s signature on all checks. He said he did so that if he was ever caught, it would be his father that got in trouble – not himself.”
This was the second such announcement this week from the House Ethics Committee that it was having to investigate a freshman Democratic member.
The committee announced on Wednesday that it had opened an investigation into Rep. Katie Hill (D-CA) after multiple reports surfaced alleging that she had an inappropriate sexual relationship with one of her congressional staffers.
The committee released the following statement on Hill:
The Committee is aware of public allegations that Representative Katie Hill may have engaged in a sexual relationship with an individual on her congressional staff, in violation of House Rule XXIII, clause 18(a). The Committee, pursuant to Committee Rule 18(a), has begun an investigation and will gather additional information regarding the allegations.
Hill denied the allegations in a statement to Politico, but did not deny allegations that she was involved in a sexual relationship with one of her campaign staffers.
The allegations, first reported by RedState, included photos of Hill engaging in physical contact with the young female campaign staffer.
On Thursday, The Daily Mail published a bombshell report on Hill that allegedly included a nude photograph of her smoking a bong “with a tattoo of what appears to be a Nazi-era Iron Cross on her bikini line.”
The Mail added: “Hill’s wild lifestyle has been laid bare in a cache of texts and intimate photographs obtained by DailyMail.com, as sources revealed Hill and Heslep also posted her naked photos online under a thread called ‘WouldYouF**kMyWife.’”
The sexual relationship that Hill allegedly had with her staffer also includes allegations of mistreatment as the young campaign staffer said that the relationship was “toxic.”
The staffer allegedly wrote to Hill, “I am terrified of pushing back against you or upsetting you. I have seen how you treat Kenny and I think that if I cause any issues, even if I am very worried about how you are acting, that very quickly you will decide you don’t want me in your life.”
In a message to Hill’s estranged husband, who allegedly was a part of the “throuple” relationship, the young campaign staffer allegedly wrote: “Idk, I was getting ready and I was thinking about how much Katie liked to watch me [reference to a hobby]…It’s ok, she can’t take [this] from me. She can ruin politics, take all my friends, and isolate me, but she can’t have [this].”

The joke’s on those who thought they could sabotage a worthy movie at the box office through carefully crafted whisper campaigns about incel violence in unsuspecting theaters because “Joker” is now the top-grossing R-rated movie of all time.
“The Warner Bros. film has become the top-grossing R-rated film of all time, not adjusted for inflation, with a global box office haul of $788.1 million. It is expected to cross $800 million Friday or Saturday,” reports The Hollywood Reporter (THR). “To date, Joker has earned $258.6 in North America and $529.5 million internationally,” continued THR. “It is expected to ultimately take in close to $900 million globally, with some thinking it has a shot at approaching $1 billion.”
The box office grosses surpass that of “Deadpool,” which surprised audiences and critics alike when it smashed records by earning $783 million worldwide, passing “The Matrix Reloaded.” “Deadpool 2” and “Deadpool” still hold the number 2 and number 3 spots, respectively, followed by “The Matrix Reloaded,” “It,” “Logan,” and “The Passion of the Christ.”
As reported by Emily Zanotti of The Daily Wire, social justice warriors began taking swipes at the film weeks prior to its release for allegedly glorifying “incel violence” and giving such people a platform for empathy:
According to leftists on social media, “Joker,” which has yet to see a global release — meaning most average theatergoers are still waiting to see Joaquin Phoenix’s take on the iconic Arkham Asylum resident — the film glorifies “incel violence” and “paints mass murder as the logical conclusion” of a “neurodivergent white man being failed by the system.”
In other words – words regularly used by people who haven’t wasted money on a gender studies degree – “Joker” allows “incels,” or the movement of mostly young white men who consider themselves “involuntarily celibate,” to relate to a mainstream character, and explains – and even, they say, justifies – a descent into violence.
The controversy over the film became so intense that the film’s director, Todd Phillips, became rather aggressive in his defense, even going so far as to blame the criticism on far-left fanatics.
“I’m surprised,” Phillips told The Wrap. “Isn’t it good to have these discussions? Isn’t it good to have these discussions about these movies, about violence? Why is that a bad thing if the movie does lead to a discourse about it?”
“I think it’s because outrage is a commodity. I think it’s something that has been a commodity for a while,” he added. “What’s outstanding to me in this discourse in this movie is how easily the far-left can sound like the far-right when it suits their agenda. It’s really been eye-opening for me.”
Actor Joaquin Phoenix even walked out of an interview at one point when a reporter questioned him if the film would inspire violence.
When the movie finally came out, critics then shifted the focus away from the film’s violence and more toward some of its alleged underlying messages about white male victimhood. Jeff Yang of CNN, for instance, said the film affirms the straight white male rage that led to President Trump’s success.
“While many reviewers have focused on [Arthur] Fleck as an ‘incel’ hero – his status as a sexless loner who turns to violence – the true nature of the movie’s appeal is actually broader: It’s an insidious validation of the white-male resentment that helped bring President Donald Trump to power,” wrote Yang after the film’s release. “‘Joker,’ at its core, is the story of the ‘forgotten man,’ the metaphoric displaced and disenfranchised white man whose goodwill has been abused and whose status has been reduced. A man who has been crushed underfoot by the elite, dragged down by equality-demanding feminists and climbed over by upstart nonwhite and immigrant masses.”

A new bipartisan piece of legislation, the Homeland and Cyber Threat Act, seeks to amend the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act (FSIA) to allow U.S. citizens to sue foreign governments for injuries sustained from foreign government-sponsored cyberattacks. As explained yesterday in an op-ed in The Hill from the bill’s sponsors, Reps. Jack Bergman (R-MI) and Andy Kim (D-NJ), the bill “carves out a cyberattack exception to the blanket immunity of foreign governments — including foreign officials, employees, or agents — provided by FSIA with regard to money damages sought by a national of the United States for personal injury, harm to reputation, or damage to or loss of property resulting from cyberattacks.”
The congressmen point out how, under extant law and federal courts’ interpretation of that law, foreign governments are generally immune from U.S. plaintiffs’ legal actions. Accordingly, the Homeland and Cyber Threat Act would close this legal safe harbor and endeavor to hold hostile foreign governments accountable for their destructive actions against American citizens. The congressmen argue that times have sufficiently changed since the passage of the FSIA so as to make necessary such a legislative tweak:
This legislation would go a long way towards providing much-needed legal protection to victims of foreign-sponsored cyberattacks. Foreign governments have been hacking into private data systems to influence politics and policy in the United States for a long time; it is time for Congress to enact a cyberattack exception to FSIA that protects the privacy and property of Americans. The bill would give victims of foreign-sponsored cyberattacks effective recourse to the courts for the first time, and it will hold foreign governments and their agents responsible for these harmful activities.
As of now, the bill has 10 cosponsors: Five Democrats and five Republicans apiece. The cosponsors include some notable far-left progressives, such as Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), and some notable hard-right conservatives, such as Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL).
The FSIA was passed in 1976, which was well before the commercial and popular rise of the Internet.
The new bill lists each of the following as foreign government-sponsored activities that could potentially justify a lawsuit, assuming also that a U.S. citizen has sustained “personal injury, harm to reputation, or damage to or loss of property”:
(1) Unauthorized access to or access exceeding authorization to a computer located in the United States.
(2) Unauthorized access to confidential, electronic stored information located in the United States.
(3) The transmission of a program, information, code, or command to a computer located in the United States, which, as a result of such conduct, causes damage without authorization.
(4) The use, dissemination, or disclosure, without consent, of any information obtained by means of any activity described in paragraph (1), (2), or (3).
(5) The provision of material support or resources for any activity described in paragraph (1), (2), (3), or (4), including by an official, employee, or agent of such foreign state.
Truly bipartisan pieces of legislation are undoubtedly rare, in today’s Congress. But much like the issue of holding Big Tech accountable, it seems that the issue of holding hostile foreign governments accountable for cyberattacks could be another issue that gains bipartisan acclaim.

As the transgender movement continues to develop, the cultural sentiment has moved rapidly toward acceptance and “affirmation.” While some believe the affirmation campaign is a step in the right direction, others are concerned that a rush to champion hormones and gender reassignment surgery while ignoring other potential drivers of gender dysphoria could ultimately do more harm than good.
The affirmation of gender dysphoria has even gained steam among the youth population. According to a study published in 2017 from The Williams Institute, “an estimated 0.7 percent of youth ages 13 to 17 … identify as transgender in the United States.” This is approximately 150,000 young people.
Despite the increasing social acceptance of transgenderism by Hollywood and the mainstream press, there is a segment of the trans population that is feeling regret, and seeking to detransition.
Walter Heyer, a former male-to-female transgender individual, runs a website called Sexchangeregret.com. The website serves as a contact point for Heyer to help those who are seeking to detransition.
On Wednesday, I had the opportunity to speak with Heyer about his life and his work. In part one of this two-part interview, Heyer speaks about the circumstances that led to his own gender dysphoria, his transition to female-identifying, the childhood trauma and comorbid disorders uncovered in the transgender population with whom he interacts, and more.
DW: Could you walk me through your early story about how you developed your dysphoria?
HEYER: Yeah. At four years old, my grandma was a seamstress and was making dresses. That’s where she made her money. It’s 1944, and so I’m the kid that’s being babysat by grandma, and I was curious about what she was doing, and just kind of watched her as the women came in and out of the house. That curiosity got her to make me a purple chiffon dress. And then she put it on me, and that was my little dress as a four-year-old. She thought I looked very cute, and today we would probably call it “affirming.” That curiosity and what occurred later, this affirmation process, led me to become confused about whether I should have been a girl or a boy. In 1944, we didn’t have any names for it, and I was just struggling with who I was. It took a long time for me to go to sleep at night. I struggled for a long time.
My dad and mom found out about it because it was a secret for two and a half years. I was at grandma’s, and then when my dad’s teenage brother found out, who was adopted, he thought I was good game to be sexually molested because I was wearing this purple dress at grandma’s. When I told my parents I was being sexually molested, they said that couldn’t be true because Fred said he didn’t do it.
So, you start off life before you’re nine years old with some of these confusing events, and Christine Jorgensen came along in the 1950’s, and when I saw that news story, I thought, “Well, that must be me. That must be what I am.” The association without having any other knowledge and information, I assumed that that was me.
I continued to cross dress and think that I was born in the wrong body throughout my life. Never really stopped as a teenager. I took on a secret name, Crystal West, and didn’t tell anybody about it. As time went on, I continued to cross dress all the way through high school and early college. Still confused, still struggling. Then I got married in my early twenties because, like so many people who identify as transgender, I’m not homosexual. The ones that I work with, probably over 90% of them are not homosexual; they’re just people confused about their gender identity, but their sexual identity is still heterosexual. So, I married, had kids, worked on the Apollo space mission, and at American Honda Motor Company.
I went to a gender therapist in San Francisco at the age of 40 to 41, and he diagnosed me with gender dysphoria, gender identity disorder – and he was the author of the original standards of care that are in place today. His name is Paul Walker. He was kind of the number one guy in the country on diagnosing and treating these disorders. So, I thought that was pretty radical and talked to my wife about it, and over the next couple of years I started on hormones. In April of 1983, I underwent gender reassignment surgery while I was an executive with American Honda Motor Company. They terminated me when I notified them of my new identity, and I became homeless not long after that. I was divorced and broke and struggling with alcoholism and drug addiction, then began to crawl my way back.
I lived for about eight years as “Laura Jensen,” female, in the San Francisco area. I studied psychology at UC Santa Cruz as a way to try to get myself back. I’d been living with a family in Pleasanton, California, because I had no real source of income for a long time.
When I saw and studied psychology at UC Santa Cruz, I realized that people who identified as transgender were also suffering from many disorders that no one ever talked about – things like separation anxiety and body dysmorphia and schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, social adjustment disorders. Just a pretty big laundry list of things that people who identified as transgender carried with them that were typically not addressed during the pre-surgical evaluation.
I then started going for therapy and realized that no one could actually land on anything specific. One therapist said that I had dissociative disorder; the other one said I didn’t. No one could come to a solid agreement. They just felt that the sexual molestation that occurred when I was young, the cross-dressing, all precipitated into me having difficulty identifying with who I was, electing to identify with my transgender identity. I eventually – through therapy and actually going to church in Foster City, California – kind of walked my way out of that, and detransitioned in 1990, and have been restored back to my sanity since 1990. Now, I’ve been married for 22 years to a real woman, and I’ve been clean and sober for 33 and a half years.
DW: So those two things – the chiffon dress and the sexual abuse – you believe were the primary contributors to your developing gender dysphoria?
HEYER: Yeah, and the people that I’ve known for a long time and work with even today, find that’s what it is. The people that I work with today, 45% to 50% of them were sexually abused as children, and they ended up identifying as a transgender later on. These are the ones that are also detransitioning.
DW: Can you explain the idea of comorbidities and past trauma as it relates to transgenderism?
HEYER: Yeah. Well, “comorbidity” is just a fancy word for “additional disorders.” These are things like schizophrenia, which some studies say that there’s a certain portion of people who identify as transgender have schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. These disorders typically weren’t there prior to identifying as transgender, but often times these disorders develop as a result of identifying, cross-dressing. A portion of them are disorders like “autogynephilia” and “transvestic fetish disorder.” Autogynephilia and transvestic fetishism are two pretty major factors that people don’t talk much about, and that’s men who cross dress and look at the mirror, and what they see in the mirror becomes the object of their own sexual affection, that becomes their sexual arousal. And so they’re typically not homosexual, they don’t need a partner, it’s just looking at themselves, they become complete sexually.
The person with transvestic fetish usually attaches himself sexually to one particular type of clothing, whether it’s shoes or whatever, and they become sexually aroused by those garments or female clothing. So, these are typically not transgenders; they’re actually people with other disorders, but they identify as transgender.
You also have people who are just cross-dressers, and transvestites. Then you have the drag queens, many of whom don’t have bottom surgery. They just are flamboyant, over-the-top homosexuals who identify as drag queens. But most of those groups, actually, are not transgender; they just identify as transgender when they have these other issues that we call comorbidities.
DW: Why do you believe people identify as transgender when what they’re experiencing is rather just a set of comorbidities?
HEYER: I don’t think it plays well when somebody sees you cross-dressing, and you tell them, “I have autogynephilia because I get sexually aroused by looking in a mirror.” It’s just a lot more socially palatable to tell people, “I’m transgender,” without going into the details of what that means.
And people who have dissociative disorders, your bipolar disorder, or whatever – you just throw all of these things into a basket, toss a blanket over it, and call it transgenderism, when, if you take the blanket off and begin to look deep into these things, you can see what the underlying comorbidities are – but we typically don’t do much of that. I do it all the time, 100% of the time, with the people who contact me after they’ve had a failed transition, and want to de-transition and we dig into, “Well, let’s find out why you transitioned.” 100% of the time, the people that I’ve worked with over the last ten years can come up with a situation, an event, that caused them to transition, whether it’s from female-to-male or male-to-female. So, they can identify it usually after the fact when the transition failed, which usually occurs between five and 15 years.
DW: Has there ever been someone you helped who didn’t either have a comorbidity or a past trauma?
DW: Back to your story, you transitioned when you were about 42, right?
HEYER: Yeah, that’s right.
DW: What were the years like while you were transgender?
HEYER: Well, I worked for FDIC and banking; I worked for the postal service. I was also at the same time studying psychology at UC Santa Cruz. That’s when I started looking into the books and finding comorbidities. So my life was fairly reasonable. I had a decent job. When I wanted to work, I could work, and I lived in San Francisco part of the time, I lived in L.A. part of the time, and in Pleasanton, California, part of the time. I was clean and sober. So I would call it unremarkable, except that I was really learning a lot about what they were doing in terms of identifying people who are transgender actually having other issues. So I was kind of beginning to crack into that in the late 1980’s.
DW: Can you tell me about your detransition experience? What first ignited it, and then the process of going through that detransition?
HEYER: Well, a series of things happened and it took probably a year and a half maybe to come all the way back. I think once I had begun to look into this idea of comorbidities, and begun to explore that – I was working actually in a psych hospital in L.A. on the unit as part of my schoolwork. I was called a “chemical dependency technician” in a lockdown psych unit. There was a psychiatric doctor there and he’s the one who began to talk to me about the comorbidities and other issues. I told him where I was trying to go with this, and he recommended I go see a therapist that he knew. I went and saw that therapist, and several other ones. It took me a lot of convincing through psychotherapy from many different people that it would be safe for me to detransition, and that I wouldn’t have this gnawing feeling that I’d made a mistake and needed to come back.
So, once I had resolved all those early childhood issues and could rectify what had happened, then it was relatively easy for me to realize that not only am I one of the ones that had gone through this unnecessarily, but that there were probably others – and that’s when I built the website sexchangeregret.com. The first year, we had 700 people come to the website. In 2015, we had 356,000 people come to the website. Today, we get 25,000 or 30,000 people a month. So many people are struggling. Somebody in the U.K. wrote an article recently – they are detransitioning and said they’ve found hundreds of people, and that’s the same thing I reported. I myself have worked with hundreds of people who are detransitioning, but it’s kind of a taboo subject. Nobody wants to hear about it; nobody wants to believe it. But this thing runs its course between five and 15 years.
Strangely enough, there’s a Dr. Charles Ihlenfeld who worked at the Harry Benjamin Gender Clinic in New York in 1979 as an endocrinologist, had administered hormone therapy to 500 people who had transitioned over a six year period, and he said in New York in 1979 that he was leaving the practice of administering hormones to these individuals, and going to become a psychiatric doctor so that he could actually help them because he said, and I quote, “Giving them hormones and changing their genders, it is causing too much unhappiness and too many of them ended in suicide.”
In part two of this interview, which will be released on Saturday, Heyer discusses the shockingly high suicide rate among the post-op transgender population, the dangerous consequences of youth transitions, the future of the trans movement, his relationship with his ex-wife and kids, and more.

On Thursday, The New York Times revealed that the Justice Department’s review of the origins of the Trump-Russia “collusion” probe has officially shifted into a criminal investigation. The announcement, Rush Limbaugh told his audience Friday, has sent a “palpable fear running through the Washington establishment” as the Obama administration’s initial investigation into Donald Trump and his associates has now been officially turned on its head.
“Do you notice it, folks? Have you picked up on it? Have you picked up on what is obviously a palpable fear running through the Washington establishment now that Attorney General Barr and his investigator have officially opened a criminal inquiry into the investigation of the investigation of Donald Trump?” Limbaugh said on his radio program Friday.
“Justice Department officials have shifted an administrative review of the Russia investigation closely overseen by Attorney General William P. Barr to a criminal inquiry, according to two people familiar with the matter,” the Times reported Thursday. “The move gives the prosecutor running it, John H. Durham, the power to subpoena for witness testimony and documents, to convene a grand jury and to file criminal charges.”
“The opening of a criminal investigation is likely to raise alarms that Mr. Trump is using the Justice Department to go after his perceived enemies,” the Times stressed.
The development, Rush said, has led to a clarification for him about the Democrats’ actions in recent weeks.
“I am constantly trying to analyze and figure out what the left is doing, the context in which they’re doing it, what their next moves are gonna be, but more importantly, what’s really behind it all,” he said. “And the thing that, of course, is top drawer today and has been all week is what little Adam Pencil Neck Schiff is doing behind closed doors in a so-called impeachment inquiry that doesn’t feature the opposition party, it doesn’t feature cross-examination, no transcripts are released, everything’s being done in private, only selected leaks.”
“We’ve all assumed that the overall purpose, I mean, the gigantic umbrella under which all this is happening is get rid of Trump, reverse the election results 2016,” he said. “However, I think there’s something more specific now that is more obvious to me than ever. I think what Schiff and Pelosi and this entire so-called impeachment inquiry is really all about is derailing the Barr investigation. And I think that’s why they’re in such a hurry.”
The impeachment inquiry is a “race” against the Justice Department investigation, Rush suggested.
“I think it’s really about trying to come to something, they’re trying to convince the American people that Trump is guilty and should not be president before Barr and Durham and Horowitz have time to reveal anything,” he said.
“We now have an official criminal investigation,” said Limbaugh. “That means that Durham and Barr can impanel a grand jury. And this is why the McCabes and the Brennans and the Clappers are running around today in a near panic. A grand jury, that’s where they go in and they don’t get their lawyers in there and they don’t get their representatives in there. They’re not on CNN. They’re in a grand jury and everybody knows what happens with grand juries: indictments. And so the race is now really on.
Limbaugh cautioned that there is one “downside” to the review morphing into a full-fledged investigation with a grand jury: “we’re not gonna get any answers to that any time soon. That’s the downside. If they’re just now forming an official inquiry, the grand jury has to be impaneled and the testimony has to be taken.”
Rush also suggested that he fears the Democrats will beat the Trump administration to the punch.
“It’s obvious that Barr and Durham are going to be thorough here and it’s obvious that this step has been taken because they have found criminal behavior,” he said. “And I’m pretty certain that they are dead serious about getting to the bottom of it, which means they’re not going to hurry through it.”
As for all of the “Washington establishment” running around in a “panic,” Limbaugh said that after spending their lives believing they were “immune from the regular rigors of the law,” they’re now having to face the fact that they’re not. “They may have fretted about it, but they never let themselves believe this day would come,” he said. “Now it has, and all of the perceptions that they hold are going to be changed dramatically.”

White House Press Secretary and Communications Director Stephanie Grisham blasted Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and other “Never Trumper Republicans” on Thursday in a series of media interviews over their actions toward President Donald Trump.
“The Never Trumper Republicans, though on respirators with not many left, are in certain ways worse and more dangerous for our Country than the Do Nothing Democrats,” Trump tweeted on Thursday. “Watch out for them, they are human scum!”
Grisham was asked about the tweet during a “Fox & Friends” interview shortly after the president sent the tweet.
Co-host Brian Kilmeade asked Grisham, “Does he regret that?”
“No, no, he shouldn’t,” Grisham replied. “The people who are against him, and who have been against him, and have been working against him since the day they took office, are just that.”
“It is horrible that people are working against a president who’s delivering results for this country and has been since day one,” Grisham continued. “And the fact that people continue to try to negate anything he is doing and take away from the good work he is doing on behalf of the American people, they deserve strong language like that.”
Later in the day, during an interview on FOX Business with host Trish Regan, Grisham slammed Romney over his constant opposition to the president.
“I would say after yesterday, a lot of Republicans really stepped up with doing their sit-in,” Grisham said. “I think a lot of Republicans have stepped up.”
“Speaking about some of those Republicans that aren’t really speaking up for the president, you also have some that are really in some ways trying to harm him,” Regan responded. “Mitt Romney being one. He’s reacted to whistleblower reports saying they are ‘troubling in the extreme.’ He says the president’s phone call with the Ukraine president was ‘wrong and appalling.’”
Grisham, who previously worked for Romney on his 2012 presidential campaign, was asked to contrast the difference between Romney then and Romney now.
“One word comes to mind: pathetic,” Grisham responded. “I would just remind Mitt Romney that he is not president. He lost. He needs to quit pretending like he is president.”
“We have a great president right now and he should probably get in line with that president who is doing great things for this country,” Grisham continued. “Mitt Romney should be proud of that and supporting this president rather than be working against him. It’s hard for me to hear Republican and Mitt Romney in the same sentence.”
“What do you think his motives are?” Regan asked.
“He’s not president and he wants to be,” Grisham responded.
“Really? Jealousy?” Regan asked.
“Yeah,” Grisham answered.
Earlier this week it was revealed that Romney was using an anonymous Twitter account under the name “Pierre Delecto,” which he used to defend himself from criticism.

On Thursday, rapper Kanye West appeared in a pre-taped interview with Zane Lowe for Beats1. During the interview, which stretched nearly two hours and covered myriad topics, Lowe asked West about his support for President Donald Trump, as well as his recent conversion to Christianity.
West specifically remarked on God’s “sense of humor” in relation to his wearing a MAGA hat:
God has got a sense of humor. … Liberals love art, right? And now, I am unquestionably, undoubtedly the greatest human artist of all time. It’s just not even a question anymore at this point. It’s just a fact, right? So, for the greatest artist in human existence to put a red hat on was God’s practical joke on all liberals like, “Nooo, not Kanye!”
The rapper also had the following exchange with Lowe about proselytizing:
LOWE: What is the relationship between a Kanye West fan and somebody who ultimately is following the same path as you, and is there a desire ultimately to convert people through this process?
WEST: It’s not a desire; it’s my only mission and calling is to spread the gospel. When I make a song, it’s to spread the gospel; when we make a device — this portable [stem] player that we design with teenage engineering for this album and albums moving forward – [it] is to spread the gospel. The ranch, any ranch that we use, the ideas behind it [is] to spread the gospel.
West went on to discuss some of the lifestyle changes he’s made as it pertains to his conversion, as well as some of the measures he initially took upon first converting to analyze his own behavior.
During a concert shortly after the 2016 presidential election in which Trump beat Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, West stated that, although he hadn’t voted, he would have voted for Trump.
In December 2016, West met with the then-President Elect at Trump Tower. West tweeted about the meeting: “I wanted to meet with Trump today to discuss multicultural issues. … These issues included bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago. … I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change.”
In April 2018, West sent out a tweet, noting that he doesn’t have to see eye-to-eye with Trump to “love” him:
You don’t have to agree with trump but the mob can’t make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don’t agree with everything anyone does. That’s what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.
The president tweeted back, “Thank you, Kanye. Very cool!”
In October 2018, West met with Trump again, this time at the White House. The meeting was seen by many as quite unusual because it wasn’t so much a conversation between two people as it was a monologue by West toward the president.
Following the monologue, Trump appeared bemused, and stated, “I’ll tell you what — that was pretty impressive, folks.”
In January 2019, West indicated that he was still on the Trump train by tweeting, in part, “Trump all day,” and “One of my favorite of many things about what the Trump hat represents to me is that people can’t tell me what to do because I’m black.”

On Thursday, before Jeffery Younger was hit with a gag order from Judge Kim Cooks, LifeSiteNews reporter Madeleine Jacob spoke to the Texas dad fighting to save his seven-year-old son from a gender transition.
During the interview, Mr. Younger explained why he’s fighting to save his son and other children from transgender indoctrination and addressed negative claims his ex-wife Dr. Anne Georgulas has leveled against him.
Reacting to the jury’s decision not to grant Mr. Younger sole conservatorship over his son on Monday, the father told LifeSiteNews that he was shocked: “We put up an email form Ms. Georgulas to me in which she contemplates cutting the penis off my son. 20 minutes later, they go into deliberations, and they come back voting against me.”
“The Texas I grew up in, the Texas that I live in, if a parent did that, we’re just gonna give him [the child] to the other parent; we’re not gonna tolerate that kind of craziness. So it just tells you, I think, really how far our society has changed, and how much less Christian we are,” he continued.
Mr. Younger noted that he “predicted” the groundswell of support for James. “The very first interview that I ever did … I said, ‘I don’t believe Texans will allow this to happen to children.’”
Noting that the case will likely be appealed no matter which way the judge rules and could possibly head to the Supreme Court, Younger said he was “ready” and “willing” for the fight: “I would like to protect every child in the United States from these abhorrent practices by the medical community. It’s one of the reasons we’ve always said from the very beginning, we didn’t just say ‘save James,’ we said ‘save James; save thousands of kids.’ And the reason we said that last part is we did not want to forget the other children who are suffering from this with parents that just don’t have the resources, the will, the capacity, the circumstances to fight.”
Jacob brought up the accusations against Mr. Younger’s character, including that he supposedly exaggerated his finances to Ms. Georgulas before they were married. According to Younger, he and his ex-wife singed a prenuptial agreement that disclosed all their finances and had background checks completed prior to their wedding.
Younger also spoke of an alleged bias, explaining that his marriage of five years with Georgulas was annulled, meaning his children were now technically born out of wedlock. “As far as I know, that’s never happened before in Texas,” he said. “We don’t make children illegitimate; we don’t do that in Texas.”
Following the interview, Judge Cooks ruled that Mr. Younger will have a say in his son James’ gender “transition” by way of joint conservatorship over the boy.
Mr. Younger was also hit with a gag order by the judge, meaning the father will have to shut down the “Save James” website, which circulated videos of his boy, testimonials, and vital court documents.

The concerted social push is now unequivocally on to normalize non-monogamous, polyamorous relationships.
Just yesterday, CBS News ran a rather disturbing story entitled, “Not Just ‘One Big Orgy’: Fighting The Stigma Of Consensual Non-Monogamy.”
— CBS News (@CBSNews) October 24, 2019
The article, we are informed, is timed to coincide with CBS News’ premiering this weekend an original glowing documentary entitled, “Speaking Frankly: Non-Monogamy.” The article not-so-subtly attempts to guilt-trip the reader to care more about the purported woes of polyamorous
couples people: “It is illegal in all 50 states to be married to more than one person — which is known as , not polyamory,” the reader is told. “Polyamorous people who try different kinds of arrangements — such as a married couple with steady outside partners — run into their own legal problems.”
The timing of the CBS News and concomitant documentary overlaps rather naturally with the lascivious new sex scandal involving Congresswoman Katie Hill, Democrat of California. As The Daily Wire has reported, Hill is now under congressional investigation over allegations she engaged in a “throuple” sexual relationship with her estranged husband and an erstwhile female campaign staffer, in addition to a separate affair with a congressional staffer. But it is also worth nothing that as far back as 2012, “Polyamory: Married & Dating” became a relatively popular reality TV series. Vice, furthermore, wrote a laudatory piece in 2017 on polyamory entitled, “Polyamorists Are Secretive, Stigmatized, And Highly Satisfied.”
I am only 30 years old, and even I am old enough to remember how leftists and social libertarians alike repeatedly assured us social conservatives that the popular legalization — and, subsequently, imposed constitutionalization via risible black-robed fiat — of same-sex nuptials would lead to neither a normalization of non-monogamous relationships nor a push for polygamous “marriage” itself. Never mind that social conservatives, led by the veritable “What Is Marriage?”-authoring triumvirate of Sherif Girgis, Ryan T. Anderson, and Robert P. George, quite persuasively pointed out that the only reason human civilization ever came around to the number “two” as rightfully constituting a marriage is because it takes precisely two individuals — one biological male and one biological female — to create human offspring. Never mind that social conservatives quite persuasively pointed out that once you remove biologically based sexual complementarity from the definition of marriage, the removal of that underlying number “two” would also logically follow. Never mind that social conservatives, led by New York Times columnist Ross Douthat, persuasively argued that slippery slope social theory is not a “logical fallacy” — it is demonstrably borne out by real, tangible civilizational results over the span of at least the past half-century.
We are now here. The push for de-stigmatized polyamory — and, to be sure, the push quite soon for legalized polygamous “marriage” — is already unfolding right before our eyes. Purportedly “objective” CBS News, after all, is now publishing non-opinion section journalistic content that tries to shame monogamous readers into sympathizing with the legal “plight” of the polyamorous.
Those who reliably informed social conservatives that the de-coupling of sexual complementarity from the definition of marriage would not lead to such an obvious eventual social trend ought to now be held accountable for their merely shoddy prognoses, if they are to be given the benefit of the doubt — or their intellectual disingenuousness, if they are not to be given the benefit of the doubt. That would include Andrew Sullivan as far back as 1996 and any number of prominent pundits in the Obergefell v. Hodges decision year of 2015 — including Jonathan Rauch, William Saletan, and Cathy Young. Each and every one of these pundits and social theorists ought to be challenged and asked why he or she did not possess the logic- and common sense-based prescience to foresee what was so obvious to some of us.
In the interim, those of us who still proudly self-identify as social conservatives ought to dig in our heels. We have a new pernicious civilizational trend to fight, and it is happening right now.

The Obama White House, President Trump allegedly told author Doug Wead, was engaged in a “treasonous” act when it was “spying on my campaign.”
“What they did was treasonous, OK? It was treasonous,” Trump told Wead in comments reported by the Washington Examiner and included in Wead’s upcoming book, “Inside Trump’s White House: The Real Story of His Presidency.”
“The interesting thing out of all of this is that we caught them spying on the election,” said Trump. “They were spying on my campaign. So you know? What is that all about? I have never ever said this, but truth is, they got caught spying. They were spying. Obama.”
Trump’s accusation echoes the language of Attorney General William Barr, who famously described the Obama administration’s surveillance of Trump associates as “spying” before slightly walking back the claim.
“I think spying did occur,” Barr told congressional investigators in testimony in April. “But the question is whether it was predicated — adequately predicated. I’m not suggesting it wasn’t adequately predicated, but I need to explore that. I think it’s my obligation. Congress is usually very concerned about intelligence agencies and law enforcement agencies staying in their proper lane.”
Trump, who has blasted Obama repeatedly in the past for “tapping his wires,” told Wead that evidence has since proven that he was correct about them “spying” on him — and suggested that his administration has since discovered that it was even worse than they initially thought.
“It turned out I was right. By the way,” Trump told the author. “In fact, what I said was peanuts compared to what they did. They were spying on my campaign. They got caught and they said, ‘Oh we were not spying. It was actually an investigation.’ Can you imagine an administration investigating its political opponents?”
Trump also blasted the years-long Russian “collusion” investigation, which ended in Special Counsel Robert Mueller debunking the claim, as something that deeply undercut his presidency.
The “spying” comments from Trump are particularly timely as The New York Times reported Thursday that the Justice Department’s review into the origins of the Russia “collusion” investigation has officially become a “criminal investigation.”
The Times, like many of its fellow left-leaning mainstream media outlets, has framed the development in terms of Trump using “the typically independent Justice Department as a tool to be wielded against his political enemies.”
“The opening of a criminal investigation is likely to raise alarms that Mr. Trump is using the Justice Department to go after his perceived enemies,” the Times reported. “Mr. Trump fired James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director under whose watch agents opened the Russia inquiry, and has long assailed other top former law enforcement and intelligence officials as partisans who sought to block his election.”

This week, 2020 presidential candidate Mayor Pete Buttigieg released an action plan for women that includes the repeal of the Hyde Amendment, which would force Americans to fund abortions with taxpayer dollars.
“His proposal to secure ‘power for women in the 21st century’ is centered on a repeal of the Hyde Amendment, which protects Americans from directly funding abortions via their tax dollars,” reports LifeNews.
“Progress for women has come despite systemic sexism and racism, and persistent gender bias,” Mayor Buttigieg said of his proposal. “And now, with women’s rights under assault, we can’t wait any longer to ensure women have the power they deserve.”
In the same proposal, Buttigieg also promised a number of radical feminist solutions to supposed problems, such as closing the gender pay gap.
Here’s what Vox had to say of it:
He wants to double funding for the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, for example, which enforces anti-discrimination laws in the workplace. Right now, the EEOC is severely underfunded, which has caused a backlog of cases for staff lawyers to investigate.
His plan also shows a deep understanding of the barriers working women face. He wants to ban companies from asking new hires about their salary history, as basing salary offers on past compensation perpetuates discrimination that keeps women’s salaries lower then men’s. Some cities and states have already banned the question.
Buttigieg also supports legislation that would require companies to publish the median pay gap within its workforce, specifically the difference in earnings between women and men, and between white employees and workers of color.
Buttigieg characterizes himself as a moderate even though he has adopted some of his party’s most extreme views on abortion. When defending his stance on the practice of late-term abortion, Buttigieg chalked the moral argument down to it all being a woman’s “personal decision.”
“The way I explain this, and it’s something that I think any pro-choice candidate from a conservative state faces, and that is I respect and understand where others are coming from. Many of my supporters, many of my friends view this issue differently,” the mayor said on MSNBC. “But we’re talking about who gets to make that decision. And the way this has been characterized, especially lately, is asking questions that almost in themselves are misleading about the medical situations that women face – not to mention the personal decisions that they are confronted with.”
“To me, it’s a very complex issue that should be guided by a very simple principle: which is that having these things dictated by the government does not make that decision any easier,” he continued. “Some of these questions are religious or meta-physical, they’re not things that are knowable in a traditional sense, not questions you can get the answer.”
Buttigieg also referred to the Georgia heartbeat law that protected unborn babies from abortion after doctors detect a heartbeat in the mother’s womb as a “cruel attack” on women.
“A woman has enough to deal with when it comes to her health care without also having to worry about male politicians telling her what she ought to do with her body,” Buttigieg tweeted at the time. “Georgia’s abortion ban is a cruel attack on women’s autonomy and freedom – one that we must continue to resist.”

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg stated that if he was elected as president of the United States, he would try to heal the divide in the country and reassure Americans about the voting process in part by abolishing the Electoral College.
“I think the work that has to go on right away is to make sure our institutions actually reflect us,” Buttigieg replied, when asked, what he would do to reinforce the legitimacy of the election system. “Not that we have majority popular rule on every decision, but there should at least be some resemblance between the decisions that are being made and what the American people want.”
“You can see this across various issues, but the issue behind every issue is democracy,” he continued. “The fact that districts are drawn where politicians effectively choose their voters, certainly the rule of money in politics, and I would argue the existence fo the Electoral College itself.”
While speaking at the University of Chicago Institute of Politics, Buttigieg explained to interviewer David Axelrod, who famously served as the chief of staff to former President Barack Obama, that many “anti-democratic” qualities of the American voting, such as the Electoral College, have ground the system’s responsiveness to a halt and therefore need to be fixed immediately.
“The process stuff is never sexy, but that’s got to be done right alongside dealing with climate, and wages, and racial inequity, and healthcare if we want to advance as a country in our lifetime,” the Democratic presidential hopeful continued.
“So, you think you would restore unity by moving to eliminate the Electoral College?” Axelrod pressed for clarification.
“I think that it’s one example — no, this is important,” Buttigieg said amid laughter from the crowd. “Think about this, if we had a national popular vote we’d all actually be participating in the same election for president, which is actually not true right now.”
The South Bend, Indiana mayor further contended that while the American democratic structures are failing to adequately function, President Donald Trump has been making the system even worse off since he was elected to the presidency.
“I think that Trump’s arrival largely reflects a sense of frustration about those structures,” Buttigieg said. “For example, in his campaign he said the elections are rigged. Now in one sense that was a lie because he was saying that it was undocumented immigrants by the busload showing up at precincts … But in another sense, if the outcome of a congressional race is effectively predetermined by gerrymandering, then in a certain very transparent, naked, and real way that’s true.”
“So the things that he was saying that weren’t true often rhymed with something that was true and tapped into this more general desire, I think, to burn the house down,” he continued. “Which is why all of the racism, and the misogyny, and the xenophobia in his campaign found such fertile ground.”
Buttigieg noted that while he is not under the impression that overhauling the American election system to favor the national popular vote will be a quick and easy process, it is important to “elevate our ambition” because, he argues, American democratic structures do not currently work.
“If our institutions continue to be this encrusted and non-functional, then I really think no matter how clever the policies we come up with on health, or climate, or wages, or whatever, we’ll continue to see this disconnect that will empower whoever is the loudest and promises most convincingly that they’re going to burn the house down,” he added.

Though the leftist billionaire George Soros did not officially endorse Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) for president come 2020, he did utter some kind words about her qualifications.
“She has emerged as the clear-cut person to beat,” Soros told The New York Times in an interview. “I don’t take a public stance, but I do believe that she is the most qualified to be president.”
Soros added that his kind words about Warren were not meant as an endorsement and that he will not endorse any candidate.
“I don’t express my views generally because I have to live with whoever the electorate chooses,” he said.
The New York Times largely fawned over Soros, referring to him as a “billionaire philanthropist” who is frequently a target of right-wing conspiracies.
“I’m very proud of the enemies I have,” he told The Times. “It’s a perfect way to tell a dictator or a would-be dictator if he identifies me as an enemy.”
“Their objections to Mr. Soros, 89, stem from his backing of liberal causes and super PACs that opposed Mr. Trump and supported Democratic candidates like Hillary Clinton, and his Open Society Foundation, which, funded by his billions, has supported democracy and human rights in some 120 countries, often opposing autocratic regimes,” the Times glowingly continued.
None of this is new for the outlet that Andrew Klavan refers to as a “former newspaper.” In July of 2018, the New York Times ran a glowing profile on Soros and neglected to mention the fact he gave money to the organization several months prior.
From The Daily Wire’s Hank Berrien:
On Tuesday, The New York Times ran a profile of George Soros, calling him “a full-time philanthropist, political activist and freelance statesman.” As The Washington Free Beacon writes, “The piece celebrates the virtuous goals of his political spending, works to humanize him, and attempts to discredit critics of some of his controversial moves.”
Despite the fact that the positive profile of Soros ran nearly 10,000 words, one small piece of information managed to remain unsaid: Soros invested $3 million in the Times earlier this year, which had been reported by the Free Beacon’s Joe Schoffstall last month.
It’s not as though the Times interviewed Soros after the investment had been acknowledged; Soros Fund Management LLC announced the purchase of New York Times Company stock in a May 15 filing; the Times interviewed Soros two weeks later, then again in July.
As to whether or not Elizabeth Warren is the most qualified person to be president, the polls among Democratic voters seem to be split, with some showing former Vice President Joe Biden in the lead and some showing Warren in the lead. According to the latest Quinnipiac poll published on Thursday, Warren has garnered a 7-point lead over Biden nationally, which may explain why Soros felt compelled to speak so glowingly of her in an interview with his favorite news outlet.
“Twenty-eight percent of Democrats and independent voters who lean Democratic say they intend to support Warren, while 21 percent say they will back former Vice President Joe Biden and 15 percent say they’ll support Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.),” reports The Hill. “South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg is the only other candidate to break double digits, coming in at 10 percent.”

Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) presidential campaign has been going after former Vice President Joe Biden for flipping on his decision not to accept donations from Super PACs and therefore opening the door for wealthy supporters to donate unlimited resources to his campaign.
“Here is the truth. Totally honest: Joe Biden’s campaign lacks grassroots enthusiasm. It just does,” Sanders’ campaign wrote in an email to supporters on Friday. “And racing around the country collecting $2,800 checks isn’t enough. He needs bigger checks. Checks with more zeroes at the end.”
“The kind of money most people could never dream of. Because that is the only way he can compete with our 100 percent grassroots funded campaign,” the email continued. “And it might work … This is a big problem. Because honestly, we compete for a lot of the same voters as Joe Biden.”
Biden has been receiving blowback for seemingly reversing his stance not to accept the help from outside Super PACs. After explicitly disavowing the outside financial help earlier in the year, his campaign revealed to NBC News on Thursday that it would, in fact, accept such donations.
Once elected to the presidency, Biden would “push to remove private money from our federal elections,” according to Kate Bedingfield, Biden’s deputy campaign manager. She further noted that he intends to enact a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United and “end the era of unbridled spending by Super PACs.”
“Until we have these badly needed reforms, we will see more than a billion dollars in spending by Trump and his allies to re-elect this corrupt president,” Bedingfield said. “And let’s be clear: Donald Trump has decided that the general election has already begun.”
“In this time of crisis in our politics, it is not surprising that those who are dedicated to defeating Donald Trump are organizing in every way permitted by current law to bring an end to his disastrous presidency,” she continued. “Nothing changes unless we defeat Donald Trump.”
The change in policy comes as Biden has been struggling to financially keep up with many of his Democratic Party presidential primary challengers. While Biden generated just under $16 million in the third quarter, his campaign spent more money that it had raised, ending with less than $9 million cash on hand.
The fundraising stands in stark contrast to the $33.7 million and $25.7 million cash reserves that presidential hopefuls Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) reported for the third quarter, respectively. Even second-tier candidates who have been polling significant lower than Biden, such as South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who has stockpiled cash of $23.4 million, and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), with $10.5 million, are amassing a larger war chest.
“The former vice president has been unable to generate grassroots support, and now his campaign is endorsing an effort to buy the primary through a Super PAC that can rake in unlimited cash from billionaires and corporations,” Faiz Shakir, Sanders’ campaign manager said in a statement.
“That’s not how we defeat Trump,” he continued. “It’s a recipe to maintain a corrupt political system which enriches wealthy donors and leaves the working class behind.”

On Thursday, Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN), one of the party’s more vocal Trump critics, attempted to blame the president for an infant supposedly dying “as a direct result” of losing his medical coverage. But after being hit by some quick fact-checks online, Omar issued a significant correction — or a significant partial correction, at least.
“A nine month old died as a direct result of Trump’s cuts to Medicaid and CHIP,” Omar tweeted Thursday linking to a report by The New York Times. “He is one of a million children to lose healthcare. Let that sink in.”

— Rep. Ilhan Omar (@Ilhan) October 24, 2019
But as Twitchy and others online quickly pointed out, Omar apparently did not read very carefully the report she was using to bash Trump.
Most importantly, the nine-month-old boy did not die. Secondly, baby Elijah’s loss of medical coverage was simply the result of his mother failing to submit the proper paperwork in time, not the Trump administration’s “cuts to Medicaid and CHIP.” And even though his mother had not properly enrolled her child in coverage, the medical staff took care of the little boy anyhow.
Here’s how the Times’ report begins:
The baby’s lips were turning blue from lack of oxygen in the blood when his mother, Kristin Johnson, rushed him to an emergency room here last month. Only after he was admitted to intensive care with a respiratory virus did Ms. Johnson learn that he had been dropped from Medicaid coverage.
Elijah getting dropped from coverage, the Times notes in the third paragraph, was due to “an error that happened apparently because [his mother] didn’t respond quickly enough to a letter asking for new proof of income.”
The Times frames the situation in as dramatic a way as possible, but acknowledges that the mother’s failure to provide proof of income did not actually endanger the child. The medical staff quickly tended to her son.
The report also notes that with a little help in getting the proper forms in, Elijah and the rest of her kids are all covered (formatting adjusted):
For Ms. Johnson, Elijah’s stay at Texas Children’s Hospital led to an appointment with an enrollment counselor who helped her try to figure out what had happened. Trying to re-enroll her older children earlier this year, she was asked for proof of income and missed the 10-day window to provide it; that may be why Texas dropped Elijah from Medicaid even though he qualified because he was a baby. All of her children are now re-enrolled.
Hours after getting called out for spreading “fake news,” Omar finally issued an extremely brief correction addressing the key fact she got wrong: “almost died*” she wrote in a reply to her initial post.
— Rep. Ilhan Omar (@Ilhan) October 24, 2019
As for the Times’ attempt to make the Trump administration and some states look bad for tightening up on the Medicaid enrollment process, the report also acknowledges that the main reasons we’re seeing a drop in Medicaid enrollment are more people moving onto better employer-provided coverage, states cracking down on fraud, and illegal aliens being afraid of their illegal status coming to light:
Some state and federal officials have portrayed the drop — 3 percent of enrolled children — as a success story, arguing that more Americans are getting coverage from employers in an improving economy. But there is growing evidence that administrative changes aimed at fighting fraud and waste — and rising fears of deportation in immigrant communities — are pushing large numbers of children out of the programs, and that many of them are now going without coverage. The declines are concentrated in a minority of states; in other places, public coverage has actually increased. …
Some of the states that saw the largest increases in uninsured children — like Tennessee and Texas — were those that created rules to check the eligibility of families more frequently or that reset their lists with new computer systems. In some states with large immigrant populations like Florida, doctors and patient advocates report growing concern among parents that signing up their children (who are citizens) may hurt their own chances of getting a green card or increase their risk of deportation.

It seems like at least once a year we’re subjected to another claim that women on college campuses in America are at an exponentially higher risk of sexual assault than the world’s most dangerous countries.
Scientists often talk about the need for a study to be replicated to prove its results, but as we’ve seen time and time again with sexual assault surveys (that’s what they actually are) a flawed survey can be replicated a thousand times using the same flawed and disingenuous methods.
As I’ve written multiple times, surveys that use an overly broad definition of sexual assault are guaranteed to get large, headline-inducing, numbers. The latest version of this debunked survey method comes from the Association of American Universities. Outside of the frightening headlines, the survey, like all others of its kind, does not really show what it is purported to show.
The vast majority of the “sexual assault” allegedly reported by respondents (in reality, they’re asked if they’ve experienced a particular action and the researchers then call that sexual assault) are instances of “unwanted” contact such as a stolen kiss or possibly even an accidental touch. These instances are rolled in with forcible rape to make it seem as though the problem is larger than it really is. As multiple critics have observed, asking about “unwanted” conduct is unfair, as people do not know something is unwanted unless they try. Misreading social signals should not be considered sexual assault along the same lines as forcible rape.
We see this in certain results from the AAU study. At one point, students were asked if they had witnessed sexual assault and misconduct against other students.
“The most common situation respondents reported they observed was someone making sexual comments that made others feel uncomfortable or offended (26.0%), followed by witnessing a situation they believe could have led to sexual assault (15.0%), witnessing someone behaving in a controlling or abusive manner (13.0%), and witnessing sexually harassing behavior (7.0%),” the authors of the study wrote.
One of the other major things to keep in mind with these studies is that they are so often not representative of the national population. This study points that out, and also states that studies that have looked into the matter have found that students are safer than non-students.
“The variation across schools emphasizes the importance of not generalizing from these 33 schools to a larger population (e.g. national),” the authors wrote. “The schools participating in the survey were not randomly selected, and the rates discussed in this report should not be seen as representing student populations beyond this group of schools.”
“Furthermore, the prevalence rates discussed in this report should not be interpreted as an indication that attending one of these four-year schools is extraordinarily dangerous. There have been very few studies using similar methodologies that have compared the sexual assault rates of college students to sexual assault rates among adults of similar age who are not in college or graduate school,” the authors continued. “Of the few studies that have been conducted, researchers have concluded that, if anything, college students have lower rates of sexual assault than those not in college (Coker et al, 2016b; Axinn, et al. 2017; Sinozich & Langton, 2014). While this does not minimize either the seriousness of the problem of sexual assault and misconduct while attending a four-year school or its consequences for students’ well-being, it does provide a wider perspective on its correlate.”
One interesting finding in this survey that didn’t get a lot of media attention is related to certain findings showing how men are victims.
A large majority of students often say they didn’t report the alleged sexual assault because they didn’t think it was “serious enough.” AAU wanted to know more about this finding. The AAU survey found some interesting response. Nearly 70% of women said they didn’t report because they weren’t injured. But deep in this section is the finding that men don’t report sexual misconduct because “my body showed involuntary arousal.” And 30% of men who said they didn’t report an offense said it was “because of the person’s gender, I thought it would be minimized or misunderstood.” This is understandable, as men who have accused women of sexual assault are often ignored unless the woman claims she was sexually assaulted as well.
There are more problems with the survey, however, as Greg Piper at The College Fix reported. As I mentioned earlier, the broad definition of sexual misconduct helps pump up the numbers in these surveys to terrifying levels. From Piper:
The first major red flag: “sexual contact” includes “sexual touching,” which includes kissing, touching a “breast, chest, crotch, groin, or buttocks,” or touching someone “in a sexual way, even if the touching is over the other’s clothes.”
In other words, that last category depends on how a reporting student perceived any act of touching – with no regard for intent, duration or even body part touched. An accidental grazing of a shoulder could be reported by a student as “sexual touching.”
“Inability to consent or stop what was happening” appears 174 times in the survey results. It is defined as the student being “unable to consent or stop what was happening because they were passed out, asleep, or incapacitated due to alcohol or drugs.”
“Passed out” and “asleep” seem fairly objective. But “incapacitated due to alcohol or drugs” – which are involved in the vast majority of Title IX due process lawsuits I’ve reviewed – is not.
As Piper goes on to note, schools across the country have treated “any alcohol consumption by an accuser as strong evidence that she (and it’s invariably “she” in heterosexual disputes) could not consent.”
Incapacitated should be along the lines of “passed out” or “asleep.” Lowered inhibitions is not the same thing. Supporters of broad definitions of sexual assault like to use the analogy of drunk driving when asked why the accuser’s alcohol level matters but not the accused’s. But the analogy should go both ways. A woman can’t get out of a drunk driving offense by claiming she was too drunk to know what she was doing. It’s not an excuse.

On Thursday’s episode of “The Andrew Klavan Show,” Klavan talks about the difference between heroism and basic civic responsibility. Video and partial transcript below:
I’m probably too charitable, but I like to think that the editors of Vanity Fair sometimes wake up in the middle of the night, in a cold sweat, remembering how they once put Beto O’Rourke on the cover of their magazine. O’Rourke, who somehow became a Democrat hero by losing to Senator Ted Cruz in Texas, has now revealed himself to be a desperate panderer who trails the field of socialist presidential hopefuls, like an annoying younger brother who won’t go home but just keeps hanging around saying stupid things that embarrass you in front of your friends.
Beto was recently questioned about a really stupid thing he said by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.
BLITZER: You said the other day in an interview with Al Sharpton [that] President Trump, perhaps inspired by Goebbels and the propagandist of the Third Reich, seemed to employ this tactic that the bigger the lie, the more obscene the injustice. The more dizzying the pace of this bizarre behavior, the less likely we’re able to do something about it. Is that not going too far, to make a comparison between the president of the United States and the Nazis?
O’ROURKE: Find me a better analogy.
He can’t find a better analogy than Hitler. Some of you may remember Hitler, the guy was an absolute riot in those YouTube videos from the movie “Downfall.” But in real life, he caused the deaths of over 65 million people, some of them in a mass extermination campaign so evil even the devil was impressed.
In fact, if Trump were even a little tiny bit like Hitler, Beto wouldn’t be saying Trump was like Hitler, because [then] Trump would be like Hitler, and no one would be saying much of anything against him, not to mention the fact that Wolf Blitzer’s chair would be empty. There are no Hitlers in American presidential history — not a single one, not even close. Beto can’t find a better analogy because, well, for one thing, he’s an idiot. But for another, he’s a spoiled American who has never faced political evil in his whole spoiled American life, but is nonetheless looking to cast his absurd presidential bid in a heroic light it in no way deserves.
Now there are, of course, individual heroes in America and everywhere, and everywhere else — people who risk their lives for the good people. Pete Buttigieg served as a naval intelligence officer at Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan. That’s pretty heroic — too bad about the crappy policies. But there are no political heroes in America because this is not a politically heroic moment. We’re not facing oppression, we’re not facing fascism. We weren’t facing those things under Obama either.
As I said at the time, we faced incompetence. We face government creep, we face a mainstream press that has been corrupted by crony capitalism so that the media’s corporate interests and the interests of big government align. And as always, we face the slow collapse of our extraordinarily free Republic under the weight of slavish human nature.
We are called upon to have enough courage to speak up, to have our videos restricted on YouTube, to get shadow banned on Twitter, to get blacklisted from Hollywood, to get our grades marked down by Leftist professors, to lose sponsors to offend China, maybe at the very worst, to lose our jobs by not toeing the left-wing line. That’s not heroism, that’s basic civic responsibility in a democracy.
Heroism is when you risk your life against evil, which we don’t have to do here because our government is incompetent, overbearing, overspending, and stupid — but evil it ain’t. You can tell it’s not evil because when you say it’s evil, you don’t wake up dead like you do in China, or Russia, or North Korea, or evil places like that.
All our political heroism is fake, and fake heroism causes real danger. The idea that the opposition is evil makes you overreact to election losses. It makes you break the rules of civil engagement, it tempts you to engage in violence where debate is called for, and to hate your fellow Americans instead of seeking to understand what they’re trying to say.
I support President Trump’s thus far impressively successful presidency, and most especially I support his shakeup of cultural business as usual. I’m appalled by Adam Schiff’s McCarthyite attempts to unseat Trump by non-electoral means, but Adam Schiff is the congressman of my district in California, and you don’t see the cops bursting into the Daily Wire to shoot me down or carry me away when I criticize him. He is a seriously schmuck dude, in my opinion, but he’s not evil. And I’m not a hero for criticizing him.
The Democrats have lost their minds, the press has lost its integrity, even some on the Right have lost their sense of basic decency, all in the name of fake heroism.

Comedic actor Adam Devine is confused why strange women think it’s okay to grab his butt without his consent.
“If I’m in a huge group, women just grab my butt as if it’s a thing that’s okay,” Devine said during an interview published Tuesday with Glamour magazine.
The “Righteous Gemstones” actor told Glamour that he’s had his “butt cheeks grabbed by at least 25 women,” when asked about “inappropriate” actions of fans.
“Yeah, constantly after shows,” Devine explained. “If I’m in a huge group, women just grab my butt as if it’s a thing that’s okay.”
“And I’m here to say: Ladies, I know it’s a meaty handful and I know it looks scrumptious, but keep those paws to yourselves,” he added.
Devine said he reacts to the groping likely in the same manner women react to such behavior.
“I mean, I feel like I react how a lot of women might react when something weird like that happens: You just awkwardly keep it moving,” he told the magazine. “I’m not going to scream at some girl who just grabbed me, but I don’t know what they thought they were going to get out of that exchange other than a handful of my rump.”
At the height of the MeToo movement, there was little discussion about boys and men being victimized. One of the men to speak up, however, was actor and former NFL player Terry Crews. As noted by The Guardian, Crews claimed he was sexually assaulted by a “high-level Hollywood executive,” though he did not speak out about the incident at the time out “for fear of being ostracized or sent to jail.”
“This whole thing with Harvey Weinstein is giving me PTSD. Why? Because this kind of thing happened to ME,” Crews revealed.
A much smaller male-focused HimToo movement sparked in the wake of MeToo. The movement focused on male victims of sexual assault and rape, as well as males wrongly accused of sexual misconduct. The media were not fond of the movement, however. HuffPost, for example, criticized the movement as the “#AllLivesMatter of sexual assault.”
As noted by USA Today, Devine appeared in a “Funny or Die” video with then-Vice President Joe Biden on campus sexual assault back in 2016. “College should be a safe place for everybody,” the actor says in the skit.
Of course, Biden, who’s currently running for president, has himself been accused of inappropriate touching.
“For years, Biden has been widely criticized by both the Left and the Right for his overly-touchy interactions, partially with young girls and women. Left-wing darling Jon Stewart even ran a segment called ‘The Audacity Of Grope‘ in 2015 mocking such behavior from Biden,” The Daily Wire previously noted.
Moreover, in March, Biden was accused of sexual harassment by Democratic insider and former Nevada Democrat state Senator Lucy Flores. “I felt him get closer to me from behind. He leaned further in and inhaled my hair. I was mortified,” Flores said, recalling her interaction with Biden at a 2014 political rally. “He proceeded to plant a big slow kiss on the back of my head. My brain couldn’t process what was happening. I was embarrassed. I was shocked. I was confused. … I wanted nothing more than to get Biden away from me.”

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) revealed on Thursday that she has decided not to seek reelection to her congressional seat in order to focus on her presidential campaign.
“Today I’m officially announcing that I will not be seeking reelection to Congress in 2020. Throughout my life, I’ve always made my decisions based on where I felt I could do the most good,” Gabbard said in a series of tweets. “In light of the challenges we face, I believe I can best serve the people of Hawai’i [and] our country as President and Commander-in-Chief.”
Gabbard was first elected to serve as the representative to Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District in 2012 after winning more than 80% of the vote. She was the first Samoan-American and first Hindu member of Congress, and has since held the seat for three more terms.

Gabbard currently sits on the prestigious and powerful House Committee on Financial Services, Committee on Foreign affairs, and Committee on Financial Services.
“As president, I will immediately begin work to end the new cold war [and] nuclear arms race, end our interventionist foreign policy of trying being the world’s police, toppling dictators and governments we don’t like, but instead redirect our precious resources towards serving the needs of the people here at home,” Gabbard continued. “I humbly ask for your support for my candidacy for President of the United States.”
Gabbard is one of 17 major candidates seeking the Democratic nomination for the presidency, and while she has been lagging behind many other candidates in the crowded primary field, her campaign has received renewed attention after a heated exchange with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Clinton seemed to suggest last week that Gabbard is a “Russian asset” who is being “groom[ed]” to run as a third-party candidate. The remarks provoked a fierce rebuke from the Hawaii congresswoman who went after Clinton as the “queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party.”
Gabbard subsequently challenged the twice-failed presidential candidate to jump into the 2020 race for a third time. Clinton famously lost the 2016 presidential election against President Donald Trump in a stunning upset. Even following her failed bid, she has been an outspoken critic of the president and his administration, and has repeatedly and publicly mulled over running for the Democratic nomination in the upcoming election cycle.
“Join me in ushering in a new Democratic Party that is of, by, and for the people,” Gabbard continued on Thursday. “Together, let’s bring integrity and the spirit of putting service before self to the White House, so that our White House can truly be a beacon of light, hope and opportunity for all Americans.”
While the presidential hopeful has met the donor threshold to qualify for the fifth Democratic National Committee (DNC) primary debate, she is still three national polls short of hitting the polling benchmark. However, candidates still have until November 13 to qualify.
As of publication, Gabbard sits at 1.3% support among Democratic primary voters, according to the RealClearPolitics national polling average.

On Thursday’s episode of “The Ben Shapiro Show,” The Daily Wire editor-in-chief talks about Mark Zuckerberg’s congressional testimony regarding Facebook’s proposed cryptocurrency, Libra. Video and partial transcript below:
So Maxine Waters questioned Zuckerberg, and she asked specifically about whether Zuckerberg was putting out misinformation. AOC did the same thing, [saying] are you willing to put out campaign ads that have overt lies in them? Zuckerberg is like, Well, not if they’re suppressing votes, right. I mean, that has national impact, but it’s not our job to evaluate for our readers true and false [statements] coming from prominent politicians. That’s their job, like more information is better.
[But] Maxine Waters can’t handle it because Maxine Waters is not a logical human being.
ZUCKERBERG: Facebook itself actually does not, it does not fact-check. What we do is, we have feedback that that people in our community don’t want to see viral hoaxes or —
WATERS: So let me be clear, you do no fact checking on any ads. Is that correct?
ZUCKERBERG: Chairwoman, what we do is we work with a set of independent fact checkers who —
WATERS: Somebody fact-checks on ads. You contract with someone to do that, is that right?
ZUCKERBERG: Chairwoman, yes.
WATERS: And tell me, who is it that they fact-check on?
I mean, she just saying nonsensical questions. She’s conflating everything right there. The policy of Facebook is that when politicians put out ads, they do not fact-check the ads [in order to take them] down, because they feel the fact checkers are then going to fact-check those ads when it comes to people putting out direct attacks on people that are not politicians.
When it comes to political speech, in other words, Facebook takes a pretty broad view, supposedly. When it comes to an advertiser who is advertising a product and they’re slandering somebody, then Facebook won’t put that up. That seems fairly clear. But these people don’t understand, even like the basics of how Facebook works. Why? Because they just decided that Big Tech is the bad guy unless they can control big tech, like listen to what they actually want.
Here’s some of the dumb — those were the more intelligent questions, believe it or not. You ready for this one? Here’s Al Green, Representative Al Green … asking how many LGBT people work on the [cryptocurrency] Libra. What? What now? That’s like saying how many gay people work at the United States Mint. Like what does that have to do with anything? Like, would it make the U.S. dollar less legitimate if there are fewer than 3% of the people who work on the U.S. dollar are gay? Here’s Green being a complete moron:
GREEN: One would assume that you would know who heads these corporations that are going to be running this global company? How many of them are minorities, Mr. Zuckerberg?
ZUCKERBERG: Congressman, I do not know off the top of my head.
GREEN: Are there any members of the LGBTQ-plus community associated with this association, Mr. Zuckerberg?
What? Okay stop, How many transgender people are working on Libra? Like you’re getting called in from Congress, I feel like Congress may have overstepped its boundaries just a little bit. And listen, I don’t trust Zuckerberg, and I don’t trust anybody — listen, I don’t trust anybody in Big Tech to keep to their promises, but Zuckerberg has at least articulated a standard.
You think I trust Al Green, who is questioning whether Libra should be able to go forward based on how many people who believe they’re a member of the opposite sex are working on the tech for Libra? It’s insanity. You want those people in charge of the country?

What a week in the Trump impeachment saga!
In bad news for President Trump, national polling appears now to be narrowly in favor of impeachment. As of October 23, 2019, FiveThirtyEight indicates that Americans now support impeachment by a 5.6% margin. This is a 0.7% larger margin than at the time of last Election Wire, but it still represents a dramatic flip from barely over one month ago, when Americans opposed impeachment by a whopping 15% margin toward the middle of September.
The situation, on the ground, still represents something of a stalemate. Many of those close to the president continue to defy House Democrats’ subpoena requests. On the other hand, the testimony last week of U.S. ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland and the testimony this week from U.S. ambassador to Ukraine Bill Taylor are shaping up to be deeply problematic for President Trump. When combined with Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney’s now-infamous slip last week about the president’s decision to withhold Ukraine aid before receiving assurance about 2016 election-related corruption inquiries, the impeachment momentum has seemingly shifted to a position that places Trump and his political/legal team on the defensive. At the same time, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi still seems reluctant to hold a House-wide impeachment authorization vote — and the longer she delays that vote, the more confident Trump and Republicans can feel that Pelosi perhaps lacks the votes she needs right now to formally impeach.
Impeachment-related momentum does seem to be legitimately shifting against the president right now, and his inner circle would do well to double down in an earnest attempt to rebut the ascendant narrative that Trump’s summertime phone call with Ukraine’s Zelensky is indeed impeachment-worthy. The White House is heavily considering the hiring of a chief strategist to head up the impeachment fight, and this seems like a good idea. The White House is currently losing the public relations battle, which is troublesome, in no small part, because impeachment itself in the House of Representatives is a malleable political standard. Anything the White House could do to present a compelling counter-narrative would be helpful. It is true that House Democrats would be politically wise to engage in a more transparent, historically grounded, and overall “fair” — meaning inclusion of basic procedural normal, such as full due process and the ability of the House minority to cross-examine and subpoena witnesses — impeachment process. After all, impeachment and conviction of a sitting U.S. president is a radically undemocratic maneuver that overturns the results of a freely held election, and it would be harmful to the nation’s political fabric if most of the citizenry viewed the impeachment process as tyrannical and reminiscent of the old English Star Chamber. At the same time, Trump and the GOP simply must do better, in pushing back against Pelosi, Adam Schiff, and House Democrats, than simply railing against House Democrats’ “Soviet tactics.” Republicans are right to flag this, but their counter-narrative must also be substantive in addition to purely procedural.
The constitutional standard for impeachment is clear: It is purely political. As Alexander Hamilton explained in The Federalist No. 65, impeachment of a president may be properly considered for all “offenses which proceed from the misconduct of public men, or, in other words, from the abuse or violation of some public trust.” There is no black-letter legal guideline for what this may comprise; instead, the Constitution’s Framers relied upon Congress exercising prudence in its political judgment.
Looking ahead, it will be fascinating to see whether Pelosi holds a House-wide impeachment authorization vote soon — and whether that planned vote (or lack thereof) affects the dilatory tactics that those close to Trump are currently employing, with respect to witness subpoenaing.

Kanye West asked people working on his new album “Jesus is King” to refrain from premarital sex, the musical talent said Thursday, during an interview with Zane Lowe of Beats 1. West also talked about the over-saturation of porn in our culture, stating bluntly that it’s “not okay.”
“When collaborating with others on ‘Jesus Is King,’ West set up some lifestyle guidelines that they would have to abide by in order be part of the project,” Billboard reported. “Yeezy asked others to fast during portions of creating and also not partake in any premarital sex at times, which he knew would receive some blowback once it became public.”
“There were times where I was asking people not to have premarital sex while they were working on the album,” West told Lowe, noting, “When people pray together and fast together, the power is increased.”
The 42-year-old explained that he no longer views himself as a “slave” to the music industry, but as a “free” “son of God” spreading the gospel.
“Now that I’m in service to Christ, my job is to spread the gospel, to let people know what Jesus has done for me,” said West. “I’ve spread a lot of things. There was a time I was letting you know what high fashion had done for me, I was letting you know what the Hennessey had done for me, but now I’m letting you know what Jesus has done for me, and in that I’m no longer a slave, I’m a son now, a son of God. I’m free.”
The “Gold Digger” rapper revealed that he first interacted with porn at just five years old, and it quickly became a habit he had to kick.
“My dad had a Playboy left out at age five and it’s affected almost every choice I made for the rest of my life from age five to now, having to kick the habit,” he told Lowe. “It just presents itself in the open like it’s okay. I stand up and say, ‘You know, it’s not okay.’”
West’s Christian identity has become increasingly public, including his new album set for release on Friday having the appropriate title of “Jesus is King.”
As noted by The Daily Wire, California-area pastor Adam Tyson revealed during a podcast last week that West told him he has been “radically saved” by Christ.
According to the pastor, West told him that he was raised as a Christian but began “chasing all the things of this world” after hitting it big in the music industry. “He would say the devil basically brought him to a place where he just felt like he was in bondage to his sin. So he said, ‘I got delivered.’”
“One time, he (West) told me that he wasn’t going to rap,” Tyson recalled. “I said, ‘Why not?’ He said, ‘Well, that’s the devil’s music.’ I said, ‘Hey, man. Rap is a genre. You can rap for God’ I think he was already thinking about it a little bit, but I just definitely said, ‘Hey, bro. I think you need to use your talents that God’s given you and use that platform for God.’”

The New York Times, a former newspaper, is now openly extolling the Deep State, pushing the narrative that we should thank our lucky stars that a cabal of unelected bureaucrats and spies is working diligently to undermine the duly elected President of the United States.
Times columnist James B. Stewart has written a whole book on the subject: Deep State: Trump, the FBI and The Rule of Law.
“In a sense, [Trump] is right,” Stewart told a smiling Savannah Guthrie on the Today Show. “There is a Deep State, there is a bureaucracy in our country who has pledged to respect the Constitution, respect the rule of law. They do not work for the President, they work for the American people. And as [former FBI Director James] Comey told me… ‘Thank goodness for that.’”
Michelle Cottle, a member of the Times editorial board, echoed him with a column headlined, “They Are Not the Resistance. They Are Not a Cabal. They Are Public Servants.”
“President Trump is right,” she wrote. “The deep state is alive and well. But it is not the sinister, antidemocratic cabal of his fever dreams. It is, rather, a collection of patriotic public servants…”
Like so much in the Times these days, these lies aren’t even smart. If these spies and bureaucrats are protecting the Constitution, let me ask this: where are they mentioned in the Constitution? The Constitution provides for a president, a legislature, courts. But it nowhere establishes an unelected collection of conspirators to spy on, leak on and foil the intentions of our duly elected representatives. Officials who work for the American people are elected by the American people and can be unelected by them. What exactly is our recourse if we want these glorious Deep State Heroes to stop doing what they’re doing and allow our President to get on with what we elected him to do?
The Times is selling this intellectual trash hard in hopes of delegitimizing the soon-to-be-released findings of the Department of Justice Inspector General Report on the shenanigans committed by Comey, John Brennan and the rest of Barack Obama’s law and intelligence agencies as they apparently worked to destroy the campaign of the Republican out to defeat Obama’s chosen successor Hillary Clinton.
DOJ Prosecutor John Durham’s investigation into that apparent malfeasance has reportedly now become a criminal investigation, causing potential perps like Comey and Brennan to lawyer up. The Timesand the rest of the left are desperate to get their counter narrative out before an Obama scheme unravels for all to see.
The nonsense Deep State Heroes narrative is also being used to glamorize Congressman Adam Schiff’s so-called impeachment investigation during which behind-locked-doors testimony is selectively leaked to the mainstream media who then dutifully bring it to the public as “mounting evidence” of Trump’s impeachability.
“Trump’s War on the Deep State Turns Against Him,” is the way the Times is trying to sell us this McCarthyite coup attempt.
“The impeachment inquiry is in some ways the culmination of a battle between the president and the government institutions he distrusted and disparaged,” we’re told triumphantly.
But again, if you work out the underlying argument, you find it’s absurd. We’re supposed to think: Obama’s minions bugging phones on which candidate Trump may have spoken, inserting agents into Trump’s campaign, and leaking what we now know were false stories to the press about Trump’s non-existent collusion with Russia — all these things are wonderful patriotic actions. But Donald Trump asking Ukraine to investigate corruption that may have involved Joe Biden’s son — this, by all that’s holy, is an impeachable offense!
In other words, it’s good when we conspire to do it whole hog but it’s criminal when you sort of kind of do it, because shut up.
It’s no mystery why we’re supposed to root for the Shadow Men to undo our votes. It’s because the Democrats don’t think they can beat Trump in the next election.
You remember elections, don’t you, New York Times? They’re the way we choose who governs us, not through a cabal of invisible, unelected bureaucrats and spies.

A time that should have been marked by triumphant celebration ended up being a moment one member of the Houston Astros’ staff has come to regret.
Astros Assistant General Manager Brandon Taubman’s locker room comment to female reporters after the Astros’ defeated the New York Yankees in Game 6 of the American League Championship series on Saturday has cost him his job.
According to Sports Illustrated, Taubman repeatedly yelled at a group of female reporters after the game, “Thank God we got Osuna! I’m so f***ing glad we got Osuna!”
Taubman was referencing closer Roberto Osuna, who was traded to the Astros by the Toronto Blue Jays after being suspended for 75 games by Major League Baseball for domestic violence.
Here is how Sports Illustrated first reported the incident, which the magazine framed as an example of “MLB’s forgive-and-forget attitude toward domestic violence”:
[I]n the center of the room, assistant general manager Brandon Taubman turned to a group of three female reporters, including one wearing a purple domestic-violence awareness bracelet, and yelled, half a dozen times, “Thank God we got Osuna! I’m so f—— glad we got Osuna!”
The outburst was offensive and frightening enough that another Houston staffer apologized. The Astros declined to comment. They also declined to make Taubman available for an interview.
Initially, the Astros claimed that Sports Illustrated was fabricating the story, describing it as “misleading and completely irresponsible.”
“The story posted by Sports Illustrated is misleading and completely irresponsible,” the statement read. “An Astros player was being asked questions about a difficult outing. Our executive was supporting the player at a difficult time. His comments had everything to do about the game situation that just occurred and nothing else — they were also not directed at any specific reporters. We are extremely disappointed in Sports Illustrated’s attempt to fabricate a story where one does not exist.”
But after an investigation by the league, the team released a statement on Thursday announcing that they were “wrong” in their initial assessment and that Taubman was out.
“During the past two days, the Astros pro-actively assisted Major League Baseball in interviewing Astros employees as part of MLB’s investigation of the events published in the recent Sports Illustrated article. Major League Baseball also separately interviewed members of the media over the past 24 hours,” the statement read.
“Our initial investigation led us to believe that Brandon Taubman’s inappropriate comments were not directed toward any reporter,” the statement continued. “We were wrong. We sincerely apologize to Stephanie Apstein, Sports Illustrated and to all individuals who witnessed this incident or were offended by the inappropriate conduct. The Astros in no way intended to minimize the issues related to domestic violence.”
“Our initial belief was based on witness statements about the incident,” the Astros explained. “Subsequent interviews have revealed that Taubman’s inappropriate comments were. in fact, directed toward one or more reporters. Accordingly we have terminated Brandon Taubman’s employment with the Houston Astros. His conduct does not reflect the values of our organization and we believe this is the most appropriate course of action.”
As reported by Sports Illustrated on Thursday, Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said the team was “wrong” for initially dismissing the SI claim. The initial statement, he said, “should have never been sent.”
“That original reaction by the Astros was wrong, and we own it as an organization,” Luhnow said. “There were many people involved in reviewing that and approving that, and I’m not going to get into the details of that. It was wrong. It was the Astros’ decision.”

Just when you believed that Harvey Weinstein had permanently faded into obscurity, the Hollywood mogul resurfaced just in time for Halloween.
According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), the disgraced producer was publicly heckled by three women and several performers while attending an Actor’s Hour event Wednesday night at the Downtime bar in New York City, which eventually culminated in the women being escorted out by staff.
In a lengthy Twitter thread, comedienne Amber Rollo, who was attending the event, claimed that Actor’s Hour invited Harvey Weinstein to what is billed as a “speakeasy for actors.” When comedienne Kelly Bachmann took the stage to perform, she quickly addressed the “Freddy Krueger in the room.”
“I was shocked to see him out, but not because I thought he would have shame, he is a sociopath and clearly has no shame. I’m shocked that he was at an event put on by and for artists,” said Rollo. “Not only was he invited, he was supported. My friend and badass comedian Kelly Bachman was performing on the show and when she went after the ‘Freddy Krueger’ in the room she was booed and told to shut up.”
“Some people didn’t realize what was going on, some artists knew and were scared and some were outright supporting this f***ing serial rapist monster,” she continued.
Amber Rollo went on to claim that a woman in the audience began to cry as she shouted at Harvey Weinstein, which resulted in her being escorted out.
“At the show’s intermission, a woman started yelling about him being there. She was shouting and crying and seemed to be the only sane person there. SHE was kicked out. What the actual f**k?!” she said. “Let me explain that one more time, an event that was supposed to support actors and artists invited a serial rapist who has ruined at least 87 actors[‘] lives and supported that monster over an actor in the room. They supported HIM over all the actors in the room.”
The woman escorted out of the room has since been identified as Zoe Stuckless, who wrote on Facebook that she decided to confront Weinstein after reflecting upon his alleged victims.
“I thought about all the voices that have been silenced over the years,” said Stuckless. “I thought about the artists, the women, who are paralyzed by the same fear I felt, surrounded by colleagues who were intimidated into a culture of silence and passivity. The room was a microcosm of our whole community. And I couldn’t sit there and let him laugh. So I spoke up.”
“In some ways, tonight was a horrible, painful reminder of the power a man like Weinstein holds even now,” she continued. “It was a reminder that even in this time of relative awareness it is hypnotically easy to be pulled into a culture of silence. However, it is also a reminder that our voices have so much more power when we stand together.”
After significant backlash on social media, a spokesperson for Downtime clarified that staff escorted the woman out for disturbing the peace.
“We want to address some concerns about a recent incident at Downtime,” a spokesperson wrote on Facebook, as reported by THR. “A company called Actors Hour rented our bar for a private event, with a guest list all their own. Shortly into the evening, one guest began heckling another, causing a disturbance to everyone in attendance. After several requests to stop were ignored, we kindly asked the heckler to leave.”
“Please know that our goal at Downtime is to create an environment where everyone feels welcome. We respect the privacy of our patrons and event partners, and want to ensure that all guests are treated equally, with the same service and respect,” the statement continued. “In keeping with this goal, we made a decision that would allow the evening to continue as planned. Thank you, Downtime.”
A representative for Weinstein subsequently told The Hollywood Reporter that the incident highlights how an individual’s rights can be eroded before any due process or conviction has taken place.
“Harvey Weinstein was out with friends enjoying the music and trying to find some solace in his life that has been turned upside down,” the statement said. “This scene was uncalled for, downright rude and an example of how due process today is being squashed by the public, trying to take it away in the courtroom too.”
The statement also claimed that Weinstein was open to talking with the woman and did not ask that she be escorted out.
“As an aside — Harvey in fact suggested the woman should be allowed to talk and ask him any questions. The venue’s personnel asked the woman to leave, not Harvey’s. I would just point out that he is being treated as if he has been convicted,” the statement continued. “Accusations are, in fact, not convictions. Due process is still the foundation of each and every one of our civil rights in this country. Please don’t lose sight of that definitive conviction when you write. Anyone should be allowed to be there if they are acting in accordance with the norms of the space. As for the name calling, it was 100 percent not anyone in HW’s employ and not someone speaking on HW’s behalf.”

The U.S. Department of Justice’s administrative review into the origins of the Russia investigation has a taken a major turn into a full-fledged criminal investigation.
The review, led by U.S. attorney John Durham, has shifted from being an administrative review into being a criminal investigation, The New York Times reported, noting that the move gives Durham “the power to subpoena for witness testimony and documents, to impanel a grand jury and to file criminal charges.”
The Times immediately tried to frame the move as being seen by many that Trump is “using the Justice Department to go after his perceived enemies.”
“Mr. Barr’s reliance on Mr. Durham, a widely respected and veteran prosecutor who has investigated C.I.A. torture and broken up Mafia rings, could help insulate the attorney general from accusations that he is doing the president’s bidding and putting politics above justice,” The Times added.
DOJ guidelines state that federal investigators must have a “reasonable indication” that a crime has been committed before they can open up an investigation, and that “there must be an objective, factual basis for initiating the investigation; a mere hunch is insufficient.”
“Mr. Durham has indicated he wants to interview former officials who ran the C.I.A. in 2016 but has yet to question either Mr. Brennan or James R. Clapper Jr., the former director of national intelligence,” The Times added. “Some C.I.A. officials have retained criminal lawyers in anticipation of being interviewed.”
Fox News reported on Tuesday that Barr’s investigation had “expanded based on new evidence uncovered during a recent trip to Rome with Attorney General Bill Barr.”
“The sources said Durham was ‘very interested’ to question former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former CIA Director John Brennan, an anti-Trump critic who recently dismissed the idea,” Fox News added. “The two Obama administration officials were at the helm when the unverified and largely discredited Steele dossier, written by British ex-spy Christopher Steele and funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee, was used to justify a secret surveillance warrant against former Trump adviser Carter Page.”
The Daily Beast reported at the start of the month that Barr and Durham were interested in “what the Italian secret service knew about Joseph Mifsud, the erstwhile professor from Malta who had allegedly promised then-candidate Donald Trump’s campaign aide George Papadopoulos he could deliver Russian ‘dirt’ on Hillary Clinton.”
“The Italian justice ministry’s public records show that Mifsud had applied for police protection in Italy after disappearing from Link University, where he worked and, in doing so, had given a taped deposition to explain just why people might want to harm him,” The Daily Beast continued. “A source in the Italian Ministry of Justice, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told The Daily Beast that Barr and Durham were played the tape.”
The Daily Beast added that another source with the Italian government confirmed that Barr and Durham “were shown other evidence the Italians had on Mifsud.”
Barr and Durham have also reached out to Australia and the United Kingdom as part of their investigation into the origins of the FBI’s investigation into the Trump campaign.

A new study out of Penn State’s Political Science Department found that rather than conservative content online leading to radicalization, as the popular “gateway” narrative insists, the reverse appears to be true.
The study, titled “A Supply and Demand Framework for YouTube Politics,” published online in October, takes a closer look at the popular narrative that YouTube serves as a “radicalizing agent,” particularly for the right. Conservative content, the narrative goes, supposedly acts as a “gateway” for viewers, potentially leading them to the fringes of the far-right.
But, as Birkbeck University of London’s Eric Kaufman puts it in his succinct summary of the study’s key finding, “Contrary to the ‘gateway drug’ narrative,” the new study “shows the Intellectual Dark Web (i.e. [Jordan Peterson], [PragerU], [Joe Rogan], [Ben Shapiro], [Rubin Report]) is de-radicalizing potential Alt-Right viewers.”

The study’s authors, Kevin Munger and Joseph Phillips, offer five categories of the Alternative Influence Network (AIN), highly influential thinkers and commentators who have risen up to be competitive voices with the mainstream media. The first category is the left-most flank, the “Liberals,” like Joe Rogan. The second are the slightly more right “Skeptics,” who push back against some of leftist orthodoxy, among them Carl Benjamin, Jordan Peterson, and Dave Rubin.
The third, slightly more right category, are the “Conservatives,” including “Steven Crowder, famous for setting up booths at college campuses challenging people to ‘change his mind’ about a conservative/pro-Trump belief; Ben Shapiro, a former Breitbart reporter known for criticizing the left for their use of ‘feelings over facts’; and Dennis Prager, host of ‘PragerU,’ a channel that expresses conservative viewpoints with an educational motif.” Here’s how the study describes the Conservatives’ ideology:
Like the Skeptics, they often lampoon the use of identity politics and de-platforming by mainstream progressive social movements, but unlike skeptics, they also disagree with mainstream liberals in principle. They tend to have more traditional pro-market and socially conservative beliefs. They are different from further-right segments of the AIN, however, in that they explicitly oppose anti-semitism and open appeals to race.
The fourth category is the Alt-Lite, which generally attempts to antagonize or troll the Left and sometimes espouses racial ideology. The fifth category is the racist Alt-Right, which is “firmly committed to a far-right ideology” and often expresses “strong anti-semitism and the belief that white people are are genetically superior” and “advocate for an all-white ethnostate” and end to non-white immigration.
The study found that with the “skyrocketing” of Conservative content online, despite a similar increase in Alt-Lite and Alt-Right content, the total views of Conservative content continued to climb while far-right traffic steeply declined. According to trends, the researchers conclude, the proliferation of Conservative content, produced by the likes of Shapiro and Crowder, has more likely helped de-radicalize viewers than radicalize them, as the popular narrative has assumed:
Between 2013 and 2016, all segments of the AIN, including the Alt-Lite and Alt-Right, rose in viewership. However, since the middle of 2017, both of these ideological segments of the AIN have seen a steep decline in viewership. By contrast, Conservative and Liberal content creators who have much more in common with mainstream discourse than other segments of the AIN have either continued to grow or plateaued in viewership. These patterns are inconsistent with radicalization happening at a major scale; indeed, from these data alone, de-radicalization seems a more plausible baseline hypothesis. This does not rule out the possibility that some people are making the ideological journey from Liberals to Skeptics to the far-right, but this is certainly not the dominant trend.
Right around the time viewership of Conservative content started skyrocketing, Conservative content creation also rose dramatically. Conversely, despite the Alt-Lite and Alt-Right stepping up its content creation activity in 2017-2018, viewership of such content has been declining.
Our preferred explanation for these trends are as follows: Previous increases in viewership of Alt-Lite, and to a lesser extent, Alt-Right content reflected such content being the most ideologically adjacent to conservative users. This content did not align with most users’ views, however, and increased competition from traditional Conservative and Liberal viewpoints enticed large portions of this audience to abandon what was once the only game in town.
“[A]lternative voices on YouTube discuss topics mainstream media fails to touch, which may help them feature more prominently in search results and recommendations,” the study’s conclusion reads. “However, since 2017, viewership of the furthest-right content has declined despite increases in the supply of such content. In its place has been the rise of more mainstream-adjacent conservative and liberal creators, consistent with a large share of users finding ideological communities that best fit their ideal points.”

In an interview on his Fox News show Wednesday night, host Tucker Carlson spoke with Women’s Liberation Front board member Kara Dansky — a self-described “lifelong” Democrat — about the controversy swirling around the latest championship won by a biological male in a women’s sports competition.
In response to Carlson’s questions about transgender cyclist Rachel McKinnon — a biological male who just set a world record in a women’s track cycling championship — Dansky said that many on the Left strongly oppose the transgender agenda but are “subjected to a media blackout.”
“I just want to say there are many Democrats and people who identify as being on the Left who are very angry about the takeover of women’s sports and how the Democratic Party is handling gender identity,” said Dansky.
Dansky then underscored that she is a “lifelong” Democrat but has found that her voice has been silenced by her own side, particularly the mainstream media.
“I am a lifelong member of the Democratic Party and many of us can’t get a voice on this issue in most media,” said Dansky.
“If you had told me … five years ago that there would be a consensus in Washington that you are not allowed to question any of this stuff, I would have said that was insane,” said Carlson. “Today, there is that consensus. It’s dangerous to even raise questions about it.”
Citing McKinnon’s championship in Manchester, Dansky said, “There are many feminist women who are questioning the right of male athletes to compete in women’s sports, and this seems to be unacceptable for us to take this position.”
“But we will continue to take this position that it is unacceptable for males to compete in women’s sports,” Dansky stressed. “It is very important in this country for the purposes of maintaining Title IX protection for women and girls …”
When Carlson pointed out that just by making this “reality-based case,” Dansky is risking “physical harm,” Dansky agreed that the consequences — physical, social and professional — for simply “voicing concerns” about the safety and rights of girls and women are dire.
“Physical harm, social ostracization, risk to livelihood. I personally know several women who have been fired from positions for voicing concerns for the rights, privacy, and safety of women and girls,” said Dansky.
“I want to also just make the point that many of your viewers may not understand, that there are many people on the political Left — including, especially, feminists, lesbians, gay men and bisexual people — who are gravely concerned about what the Democratic Party is doing on the topic of gender identity and pushing the notion that men can be women and women can be men,” she said. “Which is, first of all, regressive politically because it aligns with the notion of gender, which we want to abolish. But it’s also just inaccurate scientifically.”
“There are many Democrats who are willing to say this, but many of your viewers might not know that because we are subjected to a media blackout,” she said.
The reason no one hears pushback from the political Left, she said, is because NPR, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and the rest of the left-leaning mainstream media will not give them “a voice.”

Conservative non-profit PragerU is facing off with tech giant YouTube in court on Friday over the platform’s continued restriction of dozens of PragerU videos that the nonprofit says has far more to do with ideology than any supposedly “neutral” criteria imposed by YouTube.
Ahead of the legal showdown, PragerU has figured out a creative way to give the public — and YouTube employees — a chance to see some of the videos the platform has decided to restrict from children and others.
As the organization announced in a Facebook post this week, PragerU will be driving a box truck with giant LED screens around Silicon Valley on Thursday to promote its content and its cause. Organizers of the mobile screening say they plan to spend a lot of time directly in front of the YouTube headquarters as well HQs of some other big tech companies.
In an interview with PJ Media Tuesday, PragerU’s Chief Marketing Officer Craig Strazzeri summarized the plan of action and their rationale for rolling out the LED screen-covered truck.
“We rented a box truck with LED video screens on the side and we’re going to be playing all the PragerU videos that YouTube has restricted,” Strazzeri told the outlet. The plan, he said, will be to buzz the towers of industry giants Google, Twitter, and Facebook ahead of their big day in court Friday.
“It’s obvious that our videos are educational and appropriate for young people,” he said, countering YouTube’s defense that they are applying a consistent standard for restricting content.
“All young people should be watching our videos,” Strazzeri added. “We do hope that lots of people will be given the chance to see our videos.”
The restricted video truck stunt, Strazzeri suggested, is part of their effort to not just win in California court but “win in the court of public opinion.”
The case that kicks off Friday is one of two lawsuits — one state-level and the other federal — PragerU has brought against Google/YouTube related to the restriction of its educational content. The federal case was heard by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in August and is still awaiting a verdict.
The state-level case provides the nonprofit a chance to level additional complaints regarding breach of contract and consumer fraud.
PragerU maintains that YouTube handles their content differently than other publishers, unfairly limiting the reach of some videos by designating them as restricted. The organization’s consumer fraud complaint stems from their contention that YouTube promises to be an ideologically and politically neutral platform but instead allows bias to influence how it treats content and publishers. Tyler O’Neil summarizes the case:
In the California case, PragerU brought four separate claims against Google and YouTube: that the companies violated the free speech protections of Article 1 Section 2 of the California Constitution; that they violated the Unruh Civil Rights Act by engaging in political and viewpoint discrimination against PragerU; that they violated the state’s business code through unfair competition; and that they breached the implied terms of their contract.
Over 80 of PragerU’s videos have been “restricted” and over 40 have been demonetized by the platform. The nature and specifics of the content, PragerU says, do not warrant such action and similar content online that has not be restricted or demonetized is evidence of viewpoint discrimination and unfair practices.

In 2019, children can dress up as the Devil, Dracula, or a Jersey Shore castmember … But a little girl can’t dress up as a future bride?
According to News.com.au, a Kmart in Australia pulled a kiddie bride costume from its shelves after a Melbourne woman named Shannon B. launched a Change.org petition, claiming the costume trivializes child brides and sex trafficking victims.
“Tell Kmart this is beyond inappropriate and offensive and that they have a social responsibility to pull this item off their shelves immediately,” the petition read. “Please help me get this message to Kmart by signing this petition.”
“Each year, 12 million children (girls as young as 6 years old — the same size as this ‘costume’) are sold or married off by their family without their consent. That’s one million child marriages per month!” it continued. “That equates to 23 children every minute or 1 child every 2 minutes. If this continues, 150 million more children will be married by the year 2030.”
“Child marriage means child abuse and torture in its worst forms — paedophilia, child rape, child slavery, child sex trafficking. Kmart — Take this child bride costume off your shelves,” it concluded.
Shannon B. said nothing about the social ramifications of little girls dressing up as Belle, Snow White, or Cinderella for Halloween — princesses whose stories center around marrying a prince among other things.
The petition received only 200 signatures, many from people who admitted they simply wanted to troll Shannon B. for being unreasonable.
“Shannon, this kind of crap is what makes people hate others,” one person wrote. “It’s just a costume for goodness sake.”
“My daughter has asked multiple times for a ‘dress like mummy had.’ It is a dress up nothing more … you’re ruining it for everyone. Get over yourself,” wrote another.
“Dude seriously, get a life. It’s a costume,” another said.
People who agreed with Shannon B. phrased it in feminist terms. “Totally agree. this [sic] is absurd and role defining! Wrong age group too,” said one person.
“Anything that trivialises child marriage is disturbing,” child rights campaigner Mercy Chipo Jumo said.
Despite the fact that Shannon B.’s petition generated no significant backlash, Kmart Australia decided to pull the costume anyway.
“Kmart Australia regrets the decision to range the bride costume,” a spokesperson told news.com.au. “It was not intended to cause offence and we sincerely apologise. We have made the decision to withdraw this product.”

Halloween has increasingly become a holiday invaded upon by political correctness in recent years, with universities issuing costume bans and schools canceling celebrations altogether. Just last month, the Evanston/Skokie School District 65 in the Chicago suburb of Evanston, Illinois, announced that Halloween celebrations would be suspended over a lack of inclusivity.
“As part of our school and district-wide commitment to equity, we are focused on building community and creating inclusive, welcoming environments for all,” the statement from the superintendents read. “While we recognize that Halloween is a fun tradition for many, it is not a holiday that is celebrated by everyone for various reasons and we want to honor that.”
“We are also aware of the range of inequities that are embedded in Halloween celebrations that take place as part of the school day and the unintended negative impact that it can have on some students, families, and staff,” the statement continued. “As a result, we are moving away from Halloween celebrations that include costumes and similar traditions during the school day. We are confident our school communities will find new and engaging ways to build community within their schools.”

On Thursday, Judge Kim Cooks ruled Texas father Jeffrey Younger has a say in his seven-year-old son’s gender “transition,” which is being facilitated by the boy’s mother and Younger’s ex-wife, Dr. Anne Georgulas. Younger is attempting to halt the boy’s transition.
Cooks, of the 255th district, ruled that “the parents will have joint conservatorship over James, which includes making joint medical decisions for the child,” LifeSiteNews’ Madeleine Jacob reported Thursday afternoon.
Cooks also placed a gag order on Younger, according to Jacob, “so that he cannot speak to the press about the case and decided that the father is not required to pay attorney fees.”
Younger’s “Save James” website, which has circulated videos of James, testimonials, and vital court documents, will have to be shut down pursuant to the order.
Before the judge handed down her verdict, she kicked out media sources including The Texan, Daily Mail, and LifeSiteNews, as well as all family and friends. ABC, CBS 11, and NBC were reportedly allowed access.

Reporting from The Texan says Georgulas’ lawyers Jessica Janicek and Laura Hayes claimed during the trial that the mother does not plan on giving James hormone blockers at this time. However, “no one has stated that she (Georgulas) would not be open to using them when James begins puberty,” the report said, noting, “When Georgulas testified on Friday, she said that she understood a ‘social transition’ is usually followed by a ‘medical transition’ using puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones.”
In addition, Ms. Georgulas’ July 2018 testimony reveals that James, if he “persists” in being a “girl” named “Luna,” is set to be evaluated for hormone suppressants as young as age eight.
Younger disagrees with Ms. Georgulas that James is actually a girl named “Luna.” He has claimed Georgulas, in his opinion, would only show James love and affection when he would say he’s a girl and began showing James trans-related material, such as media from famed transgender child Jazz Jennings, when he was a toddler. In a video captured by Younger when the boy was just three years old, James tells his dad that “mommy” tells him he’s a girl and puts him in dresses.

During a podcast in January, Mr. Younger said his son has already been fully socially “transitioned” and noted that he’s not allowed to use masculine pronouns or use the boy’s name “James” to third-parties who know the boy as “Luna.”
“[James] wears a dress at her (his ex-wife’s) home; he has a new made-up name, Luna — it appears in the court filings. He goes to school; the teachers call him ‘Luna.’ He uses the girl’s bathroom at school. All of his authority figures — his mother, his teacher, the librarian at school, the police officer at school, the principal at school — tell him he’s a girl. I’m the only authority figure in his life that tells him the truth; that he’s actually a boy,” Younger told host Luke Macias during an episode of “The Luke Macias Show.”
According to Jacob, prior to the case, “Dr. Georgulas had exclusive rights to make decisions regarding psychological and psychiatric care for James and [his twin brother] Jude. She needed to inform Mr. Younger of her decisions, but he couldn’t weigh in on or change the decisions. GENECIS (a gender clinic) wouldn’t begin James on puberty blockers without Mr. Younger’s consent.”
Folks concerned over the wellbeing of the 7-year-old child began sporting the hashtag #ProtectJamesYounger and triggered a reaction from the state’s governor and other political figures in Texas, including Senator Tex Cruz (R-TX).
“This is horrifying & tragic. For a parent to subject such a young child to life-altering hormone blockers to medically transition their sex is nothing less than child abuse,” posted Sen. Cruz. “A 7-year-old child doesn’t have the maturity to make profound decisions like this. The state of Texas should protect this child’s right to choose — as an informed, mature person — and not be used as a pawn in a left-wing political agenda. #ProtectJamesYounger.”

Oxford University’s student union has instituted an unofficial ban on clapping during student functions over fears the loud noise may trigger anxiety and the rapid hand movements and noise could alienate students who are unable or unwilling to clap.
The Daily Mail reports that students and faculty are instead being encouraged to use “jazz hands” and other silent means of assent, and to explore using alternatives to clapping for meetings and gatherings.
The edict came from Oxford’s Student Union, which claims to be leading the way to a more “inclusive” environment at the thousand-year-old institute of higher learning in Britain.
“The first Student Council meeting of the academic year, yesterday, passed the motion to mandate the Sabbatical Officers to encourage the use of British Sign Language (BSL) clapping, otherwise known as ‘silent jazz hands’ at Student Council meetings and other official SU events,” a statement from the Oxford Student Council read.
They continued, “BSL clapping is used by the National Union of Students since loud noises, including whooping and traditional applause, are argued to present an access issue for some disabled students who have anxiety disorders, sensory sensitivity, and/or those who use hearing impairment aids.”
The statement briefly mentions that the New York Times believes “snapping is the new clapping,” but it seems the Oxford Student Union passed on the opportunity to incorporate snapping fingers as one of its alternative motions of assent, possibly because snapping fingers might also be triggering to or exclusive of some students.
The statement concludes with an action statement, mandating that Student Council members use “jazz hands” in official meetings and at events, and encouraging Student Union officers to press Oxford University to adopt the “inclusive” jazz hands policy across the board: “As well as mandating the Sabbatical Officers to encourage the use of jazz hands at Student Council, the motion also mandates Sabbatical Officers to ‘lobby the University’ to use jazz hands in place of applause at University and college level events, with an explanation of why the change is important.”
As the Washington Examiner points out, Oxford University has been in operation since the 1050s, and is one of the oldest and most storied institutions of higher learning in the world. However, its centuries long record of scholarly pursuits and rigorous intellectualism was no match for trendy social justice warrior-ism.
Oxford is the second such university in the UK to adopt the “ban” on applause; the other, Manchester University, passed a similar rule last year. The Oxford Student Union makes clear, in their statement, that they were inspired by Manchester’s courageous students.
Unfortunately for both Oxford and Manchester, their proposed “jazz hands” alternative to clapping may not be the clean, social justice option they believe it to be. None other than UK television presented Piers Morgan weighed in on Twitter, pointing out that “jazz hands” appears to be a racially charged term and that a solely visual means of declaring assent excludes the blind and disabled — and also that the Oxford Student Union is a bunch of “imbeciles.”
H @OxfordSU_WEO, re your ban on clapping to stop students with anxiety being triggered, & use of silent ‘jazz hands’ instead..
a) Performing ‘jazz hands’ is racist.
b) Your new rule excludes blind people, so will make them feel marginalised.
c) Grow a pair you imbeciles.

The Student Council, though, says it remains committed to its decision. “The policy was proposed in order to encourage the use of British Sign Language clapping during our democratic events to make those events more accessible and inclusive for all, including people who suffer from anxiety,” one Student Council officer said in a statement. “Inclusivity is one of the Students’ Union’s founding principles.”

Officials with Major League Baseball say they’re investigating a “violent” pro-Trump tweet sent by one of their umpires, Rod Drake.
Drake is, reportedly, a fan of President Donald Trump and decidedly not a fan of the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry, a point he made very clear last week when he suggested that, in the event of a civil war, he planned to be armed with an AR-15.
“Drake, 50, made his major league debut in 1999 and has been a full-time major league umpire since 2010. He worked postseason games in 2010 and 2012 through ’15, and was on the crew at the All-Star Game in 2013,” according to ESPN.
“I will be buying an AR-15 tomorrow, because if you impeach MY PRESIDENT this way, YOU WILL HAVE ANOTHER CIVAL [sic] WAR!!! #MAGA2020,” Drake tweeted from his private Twitter account, which has since been deleted.
The threat was the last in a series of thoughts Drake had on the impeachment process and the series of closed-door and SCIF meetings Democrats held this week on Capitol Hill, where they questioned witnesses and viewed confidential and classified documents.
“We have a political party trying to overthrow a president by lying, hiding, creating and manufacturing crimes. Where do we live? This is the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! This isn’t Russia, Venezuela, Cuba,” Drake posted, according to another Twitter account which claims to have screenshotted Drake’s tweets before Drake took his account private and then removed himself from the social media platform.
“You can’t do an impeachment inquiry from the basement of Capital [sic] Hill without even a vote! What is going on in this country?” Drake continued.
Drake also regular retweeted social media missives about the conspiracy theory, QAnon.
ESPN, which apparently keeps track of baseball officials’ Twitter accounts, caught the tweets and publicized them, alerting MLB higher-ups of Drake’s threatened gun violence.
Fox News reports that the MLB has initiated an investigation into Drake’s tweets and could sanction him for making overt political statements. Unlike the NFL, which clearly allows its players and officials to comment on current events and public issues (and, it seems, the NBA), the MLB has strict rules on what players, umpires, and league higher-ups can say publicly. If Drake ran afoul of these rules, he could face punishment.
Players can’t make what can be construed as official club or league statements without permission;
Players can’t use copyrighted team logos and stuff without permission or tweet confidential or private information about teams or players, their families, etc.;
Players can’t link to any MLB website or platform from social media without permission;
No tweets condoning or appearing to condone the use of substances on the MLB banned drug list
No ripping umpires or questioning their integrity;
No racial, sexist, homophobic, anti-religious, etc. etc. content;
No harassment or threats of violence;
Nothing sexually explicit;
Nothing otherwise illegal.
Tehnically, Drake’s comments don’t fall under any of the banned topics, though the league may decide that his comments about gun ownership are a bridge too far, even if his personal political beliefs are clearly his own.

A stunning photo of Democrat Rep. Katie Hill (CA) was revealed on Thursday that appeared to show that the freshman lawmaker has a “Nazi-era tattoo” on her waistline while she was naked, smoking a bong.
“Hill’s wild lifestyle has been laid bare in a cache of texts and intimate photographs obtained by DailyMail.com, as sources revealed Hill and Helsep also posted her naked photos online under a thread called ‘WouldYouF**kMyWife’,” The Daily Mail reported.
“The picture also shows an iron cross tattoo on Hill’s pubic area, similar to the symbols formerly used by white supremacists referencing a World War II Nazi medal.”
The Anti-Defamation League reports that the Iron Cross is “a famous German military medal dating back to the 19th century. During the 1930s, the Nazi regime in Germany superimposed a swastika on the traditional medal, turning it into a Nazi symbol. After World War II, the medal was discontinued but neo-Nazis and other white supremacists subsequently adopted it as a hate symbol and it has been a commonly-used hate symbol ever since.”
“The mainstream media has a blackout on this story, which is amusing. The press typically loves politicians embroiled in sex scandals,” a top Congressional GOP source told The Daily Wire. “But the perpetrator is a Democrat in a swing district, so the press will pretend like there’s nothing to see here.”

The Daily Mail reports that there are more scandalous photos of Hill with the young female campaign staffer that she allegedly sexually involved with in a “throuple” relationship with her husband.
“But sources close to Hill and online posts reveal that this was not the first time she and her husband opened their marriage,” The Daily Mail added. “A former tenant of the estranged couple said Hill and Heslep, had a ‘sexual relationship’ with a 21-year-old woman in 2010, the same year they were married.”
“I can absolutely confirm stuff like this went on even back then,” Michael Pace told The Daily Mail. “I left the house after six months because of all the weird sexual stuff going on in the open. I walked in on the three of them in some very weird situations a few times so I know there was a sexual relationship going on.”
RedState’s Jennifer Van Laar has broken all of the bombshell stories on Hill, which gained significant national attention on Friday after she published a report alleging that Hill had sexual relationships with a campaign staffer and a congressional staffer, which is prohibited by congressional rules.
In text messages published by RedState, the campaign staffer allegedly wrote that she felt abused by Hill in their “toxic” relationship and that she was scared of Hill because she saw how poorly Hill treated her husband, Kenny Heslep.
“I am terrified of pushing back against you or upsetting you,” the campaign staffer allegedly wrote. “I have seen how you treat Kenny and I think that if I cause any issues, even if I am very worried about how you are acting, that very quickly you will decide you don’t want me in your life.”
On Wednesday, the House Ethics Committee revealed that it had opened up an investigation into Hill over allegations that she had an inappropriate sexual relationship with her congressional staffer.
Ted Deutch (D-FL), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Committee on Ethics, released the following statement late on Wednesday:
The Committee is aware of public allegations that Representative Katie Hill may have engaged in a sexual relationship with an individual on her congressional staff, in violation of House Rule XXIII, clause 18(a). The Committee, pursuant to Committee Rule 18(a), has begun an investigation and will gather additional information regarding the allegations.
The Committee notes that the mere fact that it is investigating these allegations, and publicly disclosing its review, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee. No other public comment will be made on this matter except in accordance with Committee rules.

Even as Democrats inveigh against President Trump for his alleged norm-shattering and contempt for the rule of law, their health care plans show a growing embrace of authoritarianism. For instance, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) recently dubbed the president’s July 25 call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “a classic mafia-like shakedown.” He knows of which he speaks, because the Democratic Party agenda on health care now includes threats to destroy any entities failing to comply with government-dictated price controls.
The latest evidence comes from Colorado, where several government agencies recently submitted a draft report regarding the creation of a “state option” for health insurance. The plan would not create a state-run health insurer; instead, it would see agencies dragooning private sector firms to comply with government diktats.
The plan would “require insurance carriers that offer plans in a major market,” whether individual, small group, or large group, “to offer the state option as well.” In these state-mandated plans that insurers must offer, carriers would have to abide by stricter controls on their administrative costs — in the form of medical loss ratio requirements — than those dictated by Obamacare.
For medical providers, the Colorado plan would use “payment benchmarks” to cap reimbursement amounts for doctors and hospitals. And if hospitals decline to accept these government-imposed price controls, the report ominously says that “the state may implement measures to ensure health systems participate.”
In comments to reporters, Colorado officials made clear their intent to coerce providers into this price-controlled system. Insurance Commissioner Michael Conway admitted that “[i]f our hospital systems don’t participate, this won’t work … [w]e can’t allow that to happen.” The head of Colorado’s Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, Kim Bimestefer, said that “if we feel that the hospitals are not going to participate, we will require their participation.”
State officials did not elaborate on the mechanisms they would use to compel participation in the state option. But they could attempt to require hospitals and insurers to participate in the new plan to maintain their license to operate in Colorado — a likely unconstitutional condition of licensure.
In threatening this level of coercion — agree to price controls, or we’ll shut down your business — Colorado Gov. Jared Polis imitated his fellow Democrat, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi’s proposed drug pricing bill, up for a vote in the House as soon as next month, would impose excise taxes of up to 95% of a drug’s sale price if companies refuse to “negotiate” with the federal government.
In its analysis of Pelosi’s legislation, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) noted that, because drug makers could not deduct the 95% excise tax for income tax purposes, “the combination of income taxes and excise taxes on the sales could cause the drug manufacturer to lose money if the drug was sold in the United States.” Perhaps unsurprisingly, CBO concluded that the excise tax would not generate “any significant increase in revenues,” as “manufacturers would either participate in the negotiating process” — because they have no effective alternative — “or pull a particular drug out of the U.S. market entirely.”
CBO also noted, in a classic bit of understatement, that Pelosi’s bill “could result in litigation,” for threatening losses on any company that dares defy the government’s offer of “negotiation.” But the Left seems uninterested in abiding by limits on government power — or the consistency of its own arguments. As I noted this spring, other proposed legislation in Congress would abolish the private health care market. Less than one decade after forcing all Americans to buy a product for the first time ever, in the form of Obamacare’s insurance mandate, liberals now want to prohibit all Americans from purchasing care directly from their doctors.
These recent proposals continue a virulent strain of authoritarianism that has permeated progressivism’s entire history. Franklin Roosevelt threatened to invoke emergency powers during his first inaugural address, and Rahm Emanuel infamously said during the Great Recession that “you never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” Make no mistake: The health care system needs patient-centered reform. But the true crisis comes from the progressives who would utilize blunt government force to seize control of one-fifth of the nation’s economy.

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) gave an emotional eulogy on Thursday for his “dear friend” and Democratic colleague Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), who was lying in state at the United States Capitol.
“We are called to give honor where honor is due and so it is fitting that we are here today to honor a friend,” Meadows said. “He’s called a number of things: a father, husband, friend, chairman. For me, I was privileged enough to call him a dear friend. Some have classified it as an unexpected friendship, but for those of us that know Elijah, it’s not unexpected or surprising.”
Cummings had passed away last week due to complications concerning “longstanding health challenges.” The 68-year-old congressman served as the chairman of the prestigious U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Reform and represented Maryland’s 7th Congressional District for more than two decades.
Meadows and Cummings had both been known to refer to the other as a best friend, despite their obvious differences. Meadows founded the conservative House Freedom Caucus and has been one of President Donald Trump’s staunchest defenders, while Cummings was a proud progressive and a key figure in the impeachment inquiry into the president.
While paying tribute to his late friend in National Statuary Hall, Meadows described Cummings as having “a smile that would consume his whole face” but that “he also had eyes that would pierce through anybody that was standing in his way.”
“Not only was he a quality man, but we were able to share a number of personal stories and intimate secrets that Elijah never shared with anyone because he was a man of his word, and he said he never would,” Meadows said. “And yet, through the tears of the past few days, I’m reminded of one particular conversation because of who Elijah is.”
“I reminded him not too long ago of a quip that me made,” he continued. “He said Darrell Issa was going to make him famous, and I reminded him that he is not defined by other people. He is defined by the character of his heart, the honesty of his dialogue, and the man that we will miss.”
The duo’s close friendship was thrown into the spotlight in February after freshman Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) accused Meadows of being racist during an Oversight Committee hearing. Meadows, who was visibly upset, demanded that Cummings strike her remarks from the Congressional record.
“I’ve said it – and gotten in trouble for it – that you’re one of my best friends,” Cummings said to Meadows in front of the committee while trying to diffuse the heated situation.
“Scripture talks about, ‘Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me,’” Meadows continued during his eulogy. “‘In my father’s house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.’ So Elijah has left his tent to go to a mansion, a better place.”
“Perhaps this place and this country would be better served with a few more unexpected friendships,” he added. “I know I’ve been blessed by one.”

Over the weekend, Chinese state-run media outlet, China Daily, published an opinion piece by one of their regular writers blowing the lid off of critics’ rationale for skewering LeBron James over his comments about Hong Kong: racism.
According to “Ian Goodrum,” a self-identified “writer for China Daily,” an arm of the Chinese government’s extensive state-run media machine, James’ detractors, who take issue with James’ support for the Chinese government in its dealings with pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong, and his support for the NBA’s crackdown on anti-China commentary, are driven by racial prejudice and accuses American authorities of “hypocrisy” in “silencing” James on the issue.
“Opinion elites were quick to condemn James for, irony of ironies, insufficient condemnation,” Goodrum writes. “They wanted James to come out strong against China, to mirror their perspective on a country they’ve designated as an enemy.”
James, of course, suggested that the NBA punish Houston Rockets’ general manager Daryl Morey for a Tweet expressing solidarity with pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong. James later spoke at length about the trouble with Morey’s social media missive, and seemed to suggest that the NBA should limit the speech of its players and administrators with regards to China.
“I think when we all sit back and learn from the situation that happened, understand that what you could tweet or could say [could affect people],” James said. “We all talk about this freedom of speech. Yes, we all do have freedom of speech, but at times there are ramifications for the negative that can happen when you’re not thinking about others, and you’re only thinking about yourself.
“I don’t want to get into a word or sentence feud with Daryl Morey, but I believe he wasn’t educated on the situation at hand, and he spoke, and so many people could have been harmed, not only financially, but physically,” he continued. “Emotionally. Spiritually. So just be careful what we tweet and what we say, and what we do. Even though yes, we do have freedom of speech, but there can be a lot of negative that comes with that too.”
James, of course, had no problem with players’ league-wide protests in support of Colin Kaepernick, the former-San Francisco 49er who knelt during the national anthem at NFL games in protest of institutionalized racism and police brutality. When it comes to China, however, James, who has a multi-million dollar contract with Nike, which sells to Chinese consumers, and a vested interest in the lucrative payday the NBA sees from its Chinese arm, seemed less thrilled when it appeared such “free speech” might impact his bottom line.
China Daily suggested that it is those calling for James to rethink his commentary, and not James himself, with the hypocritical view of free speech.
“A revolting hypocrisy is at work here. The same people who told James and former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick to ‘shut up and play’ when they took a stand against the killing of Black men by U.S. police are now demanding athletes speak out — but only if their opinions are the correct ones, of course,” the paper alleged.
‘No matter what anyone says, this isn’t about freedom of speech. That’s just a fig leaf, a cover for policing discourse and narrowing the window of acceptable opinion so the only stances that fit are the ones in line with the US government,” China Daily’s columnist continued. “‘Free speech’ has never really been about the untrammeled right to say or do whatever one wants — the US created broad definitions of dissent to prosecute its critics throughout its history.”
They’re referring, specifically, to the 1789 Alien & Sedition Acts, which limited immigration and acts of speech in wartime in the late eighteenth century. China, by contrast, has been rounding up detractors recently, is attempting to curb free speech in Hong Kong so that it may punish Chinese dissenters who seek refuge there, and has reportedly thrown more than a million ethnic Chinese Muslims into concentration camps, where they are “re-educated” through torture.
The piece ends with a call for James not to “buckle under pressure.”
“No one in the major US media, not even James’ few defenders, has entertained the notion he was speaking honestly. Besides the nasty racial connotations — think for a moment what a largely white media class devaluing a Black man’s subjectivity implies — it sets a precedent,” China Dailyclaimed. “If one of the most talented and popular athletes in the world has his statements dismissed when they don’t conform to Western consensus, what does that mean for the rest of us?”

Father James Martin, a Jesuit priest who consistently blurs the line on Catholic teaching regarding homosexual acts, got a complete shellacking from several American bishops for publicly questioning the Holy Bible’s teaching on the subject.
Though Martin has positioned himself as an LGBT-friendly priest, he has always maintained he agrees with Catholic teaching on homosexual acts while simply calling for more compassion for such individuals. On Wednesday, that facade dropped almost completely when he tweeted an article from the Protestant Scripture scholar and theologian Walter Wink, which said that the Bible’s condemnation of homosexual acts should be questioned due to the Bible’s alleged endorsement of slavery. Martin even used the words “interesting” in reference to the passage.
“Interesting: ‘Where the Bible mentions [same-sex sexual] behavior at all, it clearly condemns it. I freely grant that. The issue is precisely whether the biblical judgment is correct. The Bible sanctioned slavery as well and nowhere attacked it as unjust,’” he tweeted. “’Are we prepared to argue today that slavery is biblically justified?’”
In response, Catholic bishops immediately condemned this line from Martin.
“Thank you for acknowledging that you question scripture,” said Bishop Strickland of Texas. “If we go down that road, where do we stop? I know you have lots of support, but you are challenging the Deposit of Faith that I promised to defend. As a bishop, I’ll keep defending it.”
“How convenient to use slavery to justify support for homosexuality, totally overlooking the fact that the Bible is overwhelmingly the story of God freeing His People from all slavery – physical & political, but also slavery to idols & false gods, to moral & spiritual aberrations!” said Cardinal Napier of South Africa, as reported by LifeSiteNews.
After a severe backlash on social media, Father Martin once again blamed it all on “far-right Catholics” that failed to see the nuance in his tactic.
“Yesterday I was called a ‘heretic’ for supposedly going against church teaching. In fact, I linked to [an] article by the Protestant Scripture scholar and theologian Walter Wink. So if you would like to call anyone a “heretic” it is Mr. Wink, the author of many books on the Bible and a scholar who probably forgot more about the Bible than those who would condemn him for ‘heresy’ have learned. But he’s dead, after years of service to the Lord, so the puerile name-calling probably won’t bother him,” he said in a lengthy Twitter thread.
James Martin then went on to make the claim that Catholics are not biblical fundamentalists, even though all Catholic teaching has basis in scripture.
“I said that Professor Wink’s short article about biblical criticism was ‘interesting’ (which it was) and was thus lambasted by Catholics who excoriated me for not accepting the ‘inerrancy’ of Scripture. News flash: Catholics are not biblical fundamentalists. Cf: ‘Dei Verbum,’” added Martin.
“This points out, once again, that some on the Catholic far-right who are quick to condemn and use names like ‘heretic’ are not reading things very carefully. (E.g., ‘Building a Bridge.’) And some also don’t know, or actively reject, current Catholic teaching (e.g., Vatican II),” he concluded.
As noted by LifeSiteNews, Pope Pius XII’s 1943 encyclical Divine Afflante Spiritu spoke about the inerrancy of scripture:
The sacred Council of Trent ordained by solemn decree that “the entire books with all their parts, as they have been wont to be read in the Catholic Church and are contained in the old vulgate Latin edition, are to be held sacred and canonical.” In our own time the [First] Vatican Council, with the object of condemning false doctrines regarding inspiration, declared that these same books were to be regarded by the Church as sacred and canonical “not because, having been composed by human industry, they were afterwards approved by her authority, nor merely because they contain revelation without error, but because, having been written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, they have God for their author, and as such were handed down to the Church herself.”

On Wednesday’s episode of “The Michael Knowles Show,” Knowles talked about the way the mainstream media has been covering Congresswoman Katie Hill’s (D-CA) sex scandal, and Congresswoman Ihlan Omar’s (D-MN) sex scandal. Video and partial transcript below:
There are two major sex scandals going on right now in the House of Representatives, among Democrats, that not a lot of people are talking about. The mainstream media are going to block it out, because it doesn’t look good for Democrats. There’s Katie Hill, who is a Democrat congresswoman who was engaged in not just a lesbian love affair for a couple of years, she was engaged in what was termed a “throuple,” a three-way love affair with her husband and this very young staffer.
There is a photo that leaked of Katie Hill sitting completely naked, combing and brushing her twenty-two year old staffer’s hair. This photo leaked. Now, imagine, of course, if this were a Republican, what this story would – I mean, this would be wall-to wall-coverage, demands for resignations, this would be going on 24/7.
Now, imagine you were a man. Could you – oh my gosh. I can’t even contemplate if it were a man. But because it’s a Democrat, it goes away. Ilhan Omar is in a sex scandal now because she left her husband for – oh, by the way, the thing with Katie Hill, the reason she broke up the couple and her husband is now filing for divorce, is because Katie Hill simultaneously was sleeping with her male campaign consultant as well.
Same thing here, Ilhan Omar has an affair with her campaign consultant. She’s married; he’s married. He leaves his wife, she’s leaving her husband, and they’re having an affair together. I don’t mention this because I even want to publicly shame Katie Hill and Ilhan Omar for their sex scandals. Politicians having sex scandals is not news; politicians having sex scandals is a daily occurrence, especially this is true of members of Congress. So I don’t mention it to shame them.
I mention it – I mean, I’m sure they feel a lot of shame, as they should – but I mention it because, one, it shows you the double standard on how sex is treated among Democrats and Republicans. Two, it shows you how complicated sex and relationships are. I mean, there were some people who were applauding Katie Hill for leaving her husband because she’s come out as a lesbian now, and her husband responded and said, she’s not a lesbian, she’s bisexual and she’s leaving me for a man. So that’s a bad thing, but it would be good if she left him for a woman for some reason.
To show you the double standard on the behavior, on every topic, from sex to rhetoric to lynchings, all the way to presidential rhetoric at the top. When Democrats do it, when the Left does it, it’s wonderful and beautiful and to be celebrated; when Republicans do exactly the same thing, it’s awful and terrible and could never be worse. The one advantage – we talked about yesterday about how awful social media is, and how it really feeds into this narcissism we all feel in our culture – the one advantage of this high technology is it gives us a lot of historical perspective. Nothing goes away on the Internet; the Internet is forever. We can compare these things, we can expose that hypocrisy. That is the silver lining in the storm cloud.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) wants to know why a witness called to testify as part of Democrats’ impeachment inquiry had his testimony rescheduled to this Saturday, when the House would not be in session and few members would be able to attend.
In a letter sent Wednesday to Philip T. Reeker, who currently serves as the acting assistant secretary for the State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, Jordan asked why the ambassador’s testimony was suddenly changed to Saturday and why he was no longer appearing at an event sponsored by a group that received money from Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company that employed former Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter.
“On Monday night, we learned that you have agreed to reschedule your testimony to Saturday, October 26, when the House of Representatives will not be in session,” Jordan wrote on behalf of committee Republicans. “Because the chairmen have excluded us from deliberations about deposition scheduling, we write to understand the circumstances that led to the rescheduling of your deposition to a date on which members may not be able to attend.”
The letter, obtained by The Daily Wire, states that House Republicans “have no confidence that Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff – who Speaker Pelosi chose to lead this ‘impeachment inquiry’ – is operating fairly or in good faith.”
“Since allegations of a potential quid pro quo arose in August 2019, Chairman Schiff has misled the American public about his involvement with the whistleblower complaint and publicly fabricated information about President Trump’s phone call with President Zelensky,” Jordan continued. “Chairman Schiff has chosen to conduct his inquiry behind closed doors with only a limited group of Members present, allowing selective leaks of cherry-picked information to paint misleading public narratives.”
Jordan suggested that if Reeker could be available to testify on a business day “in the near future,” he was encouraged to do so “to allow robust Member attendance and participation.”
In addition to questions regarding the rescheduling of his testimony, Jordan also asked Reeker about his participation in a panel discussion sponsored by the Atlantic Council.
“As you may know, in 2018, the Atlantic Council received between $100,00 and $249,999 from Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company linked to Hunter Biden,” Jordan wrote.
“As of yesterday morning, the Atlantic Council had removed your name as a panelist from the event.”
Burisma is the company that employed Hunter Biden on its Board of Directors, paying him more than $80,000 a month as a “ceremonial figure,” The Daily Wire previously reported.
Jordan provided multiple questions for Reeker to answer:
Please explain the circumstances that lead [sic] to the rescheduling of your deposition from October 23 to October 26.
- When did the discussions about rescheduling your deposition begin?
- Did you propose the rescheduling or did the Democrat staff?
- What were the reasons given for rescheduling your deposition to a Saturday?
- Did you discuss alternative business days on which to provide testimony?
Please explain whether you are represented by private counsel in this matter. If so, who is your attorney?
Please explain why your name was removed as a panelist from the Atlantic Council’s event, titled More In The Med: Revitalizing Nato’s Southern Strategy For An Era Of Great Power Competition?

Twitter has just fallen for the oldest trick in the terrorist organization playbook. It’s resisting a bipartisan congressional call to exclude Hamas and Hezbollah from operating freely on its platform on the grounds that it allows only the “political” but not the “military” factions to tweet. The geniuses at the Silicon Valley tech giant have been duped by what I call the terrorist wing scam.
For over a century, the most successful terrorist organizations have learned to disguise their true nature by creating political and charitable “wings,” “arms,” or “branches” (the metaphor varies). These enterprises act like dummy corporations, allowing groups to participate in the very same civil societies which they attack. Ever since the IRA pretended that Sinn Fein was the “political wing” of the Irish resistance, only loosely connected to the “militant IRA,” other terrorist groups have followed suit, either with political or charitable “wings.” Successful counterterrorism begins with rejecting this illusion of separation.
Twitter’s gullibility first came to light on September 22, when a bipartisan press release by Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), Tom Reed (R-NY), Max Rose (D-NY), and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-R) pointed out that Twitter allows Hamas and Hezbollah to operate accounts in clear violation of U.S. law criminalizing “material support” for U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations. The congressmen demanded that Twitter “remove all content from Foreign Terrorist Organizations.”
Twitter responded on September 25 with a letter from Carlos Monje, Jr., director of public policy and philanthropy, defending its policy of allowing Hamas and Hezbollah on its site. His explanation is a textbook example of what happens when one accepts the wing scam. “Twitter,” he explains, “draws a distinction between the political and military factions of these organizations.”
The letter continues to explain that “[i]ndividuals directly representing or promoting the political factions of these organizations may use Twitter in accordance with the Twitter Rules, including those outlined above. Accounts affiliated with the military wings, however, are permanently suspended.”
The Congressmen responded on Tuesday, October 22, with a letter to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, pointing out the flaws in his company’s policy and expressing dismay that it draws a distinction where U.S. law does not. “This distinction is not meaningful,” their response reads, “nor is it widely shared. Hezbollah and Hamas are terrorist organizations as designated by the United States Government. Period.”
Of course, they are right that the distinction is not meaningful. Even Hamas’ co-founder Ahmed Yasin acknowledged in 1998 that, “We cannot separate the wing from the body. If we do so, the body will not be able to fly. Hamas is one body.” In 2001, Yasin’s successor Abdul Aziz Rantisi acknowledged that “Hamas’ political wing determines the overall policy for the movement [and the] military wing operates at the pleasure of the political bureau, and is subordinate to it.” Unfortunately, they are wrong that the distinction is not widely shared.
Terrorists understand that by participating in a political process, they gain a cloak of legitimacy from foes who value participation in the process. Former President Jimmy Carter illustrated this fallacy in 2015, when he declared of Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal, “I don’t believe that he’s a terrorist. He’s strongly in favor of the peace process.”
By falling for the scam, Twitter offers more than the privilege of dispensing wisdom 280 characters at a time. It provides its corporate stamp of approval on Hamas and Hezbollah, helping both groups build the façades behind which they hide.
Martin McGuinness (“the Butcher of Bogside”) was an IRA commander in the 1970s and also a member of Sinn Féin. Like his fellow IRA commander Gerry Addams, he was allowed to transition from terrorist to politician by participating in the “peace process.” McGuinness eventually became Sinn Fein’s chief negotiator with the British government and in June 2012, his transformation complete, he actually shook the hand of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth — whose cousin Lord Mountbatten was murdered in 1979 by the IRA he commanded.
The four congressmen gave Dorsey until November 1 to comply with their demands to follow the law. That gives him some time to study the issue, look into the history, and prevent his company from inadvertently facilitating Hamas and Hezbollah in their efforts to blend into civil society through social media. He doesn’t have to shake their hands.

The War on Halloween continues in 2019 as schools across the country announce they will not be celebrating the beloved holiday over issues of inclusivity.
According to Yahoo Lifestyle, the Evanston/Skokie School District 65 in the Chicago suburb of Evanston, Illinois, announced last month that Halloween celebrations alienate certain members of the staff and student body who do not participate for religious or personal reasons as well as those who cannot afford costumes.
“In District 65, we remain committed to equity and discontinuing current and past practices that are not in alignment with our goals,” it concluded. “Our schools are special because of the people who are a part of them and our commitment to serving the educational needs of our students. Many of our schools have already moved away from the traditional Halloween activities during the school day and have scheduled Halloween or other seasonal activities outside of the school day.”
Other schools across the country have expressed similar dissatisfaction with Halloween and have banned the celebration on school grounds. For instance, North Country Elementary in Antelope, California, told CBS Sacramento that the school will be celebrating a “harvest festival” over Halloween.
“We have consistently respected the right of families to choose to have their children participate, or not, in such celebrations,” said the statement. “However, when the number of students choosing to not participate becomes significant, it is incumbent on the school leadership to re-evaluate and determine if the event is truly meeting the social and academic needs of its student population.”
Over at Vermont’s Burlington School District, English Learning director of programs Miriam Ehtesham-Cating told local reporters about the fear people have over culturally-insensitive costumes.
“Many people are made uncomfortable by the notion that you change your identity, you turn into someone else and those somebody else could represent cultural appropriations,” said Cating.
In 2017, the Boyden Elementary School in Walpole, Massachusetts, also canceled Halloween for not being “inclusive enough.” In a message to parents, the school principal said that the parade does not respect students’ “individual differences.”
“The costume parade is out of our ordinary routine and can be difficult for many students,” said the principal. “Also, the parade is not inclusive of all the students and it is our goal each and every day to ensure all student’s individual differences are respected.”

Republicans on the House Foreign Affairs Committee say they have been barred from viewing classified documents relating to Democrats’ impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump unless a Democratic staffer is present.
The 21 Republican members sent a letter to Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) on Tuesday protesting the rule imposed on them by the California Democrat, who is leading the impeachment proceedings as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee:
To date, your Ukraine ‘joint investigation’ has operated almost exclusively within the jurisdiction of the Committee on Foreign Affairs,” the group, led by Rep. Michael McCaul of Texas, wrote. “So I was shocked to be informed yesterday that you will not be providing deposition and interview transcripts from this supposed ‘joint inquiry’ to the Foreign Affairs Committee. Your staff claims that the only way we will have access to the transcripts is in your offices, during designated hours, under the personal supervision and monitoring of a majority staffer.
The Republicans wrote that it is “outrageous and unjustifiable to deny us those basic documents, which are critical to our ability to meaningfully prepare for and participate in this investigation.” The members wrote that they required “the same access to the same documents in the same format, as is enjoyed by you and your staff.”
The members added that the Foreign Affairs Committee has “a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF), a classified computer system, and a full-time non-partisan Security Officer.”
“There is no legitimate reason to deny us the transcripts,” the Republicans continued.
In closing, the Republican members threatened “to pursue public efforts to correct it, including by seeking a privileged vote on the House Floor.”
McCaul and two other Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee — Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Devin Nunes (R-CA) — wrote a second letter to Schiff on Wednesday, asking why he has decided not to call a whistleblower in for questioning despite previous assertions to do so.
“We are surprised by your announcement that the Committees will not receive testimony from the anonymous intelligence community employee whose complaint initiated the so-called impeachment inquiry,” the congressmen wrote in the second letter, obtained by The Daily Wire. “You had earlier committed that the employee would provide ‘unfiltered’ testimony ‘very soon,’ only to reverse course following revelations that the employee had a bias against President Donald Trump and that you had received a secret, early account of the allegations.”
The Republicans wrote that it is important to question the whistleblower who filed a complaint alleging President Donald Trump abused his power as president by demanding Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky investigate one of his 2020 rivals. As the Republicans pointed out in their letter, multiple assertions by the whistleblower regarding Trump’s July 25 phone call with Zelensky turned out to be false.
For example, the whistleblower’s claims that Trump “sought to pressure” Zelensky “to take actions to help the President’s 2020 bid” were denied by Zelensky and negated by a transcript of the phone call released by Trump. The transcript shows no pressure or threats, but he did bring up former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter’s dealing with Ukraine. Zelensky repeatedly said he felt no pressure and although Democrats have claimed Trump withheld military aid from Ukraine over the investigation, Ukraine officials said they had no idea aid was being withheld until at least a month after the phone call.

On Wednesday’s episode of “The Ben Shapiro Show,” the Daily Wire editor-in-chief talked about a recent New York Times article, which revealed that Democratic establishment donors are anxious about the mediocre 2020 primary field. Video and partial transcript below:
Democrats in 2020 are looking at their field and they are starting to panic. There’s an entire article in the New York Times [Tuesday] titled “Anxious Democratic Establishment Asks, Is there anybody else?” Quote:
“When a half-dozen Democratic donors gathered at the Whitby Hotel in Manhattan last week, the dinner began with a discussion of which presidential candidates the contributors liked. But as conversations among influential Democrats often go these days, the meeting quickly evolved into a discussion of who is not in the race — but could be lured in.”
“Would Hillary Clinton get in, the contributors wondered,” [and] by the way, Hillary wants it. Hillary’s obviously trying to talk her way into this race, she’s obviously trying to talk herself into this race. There is just no question, right? Because what does she have to lose at this point? She’s run twice, she’s lost twice. In one, she won the popular vote. Her image is what her image is. In the words of a famous woman, what difference at this point would it make?
If she were to — why not? Why not jump? And you can see that she obviously wants to do so over the weekend. She was at some sort of event and she was — somebody from the crowd shouted, “Maybe you should jump in!” She sort of smiled and then ignored the question. She would love to jump in. Why? Because this is an extraordinarily weak field, and Hillary is obviously tempted.
[Hillary is] commenting more and more often. She went after Tulsi Gabbard in the weirdest way while I was on break here. She suggests that Tulsi Gabbard was a Russian agent, which is a pretty incredible allegation to make about a woman who served in the United States military. Last I checked, this isn’t Kevin Costner in “No Way Out.” In any case, Hillary called Tulsi a Russian asset, which was odd.
CLINTON: I’m not making any predictions, but I think they’ve got their eye on somebody who’s currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate. She’s a favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far, and that’s assuming Jill Stein will give it up, which she might not, because she’s also a Russian asset. Yeah, she’s a Russian asset. I mean, totally. And so they know they can’t win without a third-party candidate.
Okay, and then Tulsi immediately slapped back because this is exactly what she’s been waiting for, is that fight. She says, “Great! Thank you Hillary Clinton. You, the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption.” Boo! boo! It reads directly like the monologue by the witch in “The Princess Bride.” The queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, Boo! boo!
GABBARD: … personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long, have finally come out from behind the curtain. From the day I announced my candidacy, there has been a concerted campaign to destroy my reputation. We wondered who was behind it and why. Now we know — it was always you, through your proxies and powerful allies in the corporate media and war machine, afraid of the threat I pose. It’s now clear that this primary is between you and me. Don’t cowardly hide behind your proxies. Join the race directly.
Hillary obviously is considering that because the rest of this field is unbelievably weak. Elizabeth Warren is weak – she is weak. [Warren] released her educational plan yesterday. She used to be an advocate for charter schools; her educational plan now includes a complete ban on any federal funding of charter schools, plus a mandate that charter schools are supposed to follow a bevy of regulations. Then she says that charter schools are uncompetitive, which is nonsense – charter schools are the only places where parents can voluntarily enroll or dis-enroll their children in the public school system. Where are you talking about?
I mean, these candidates are weak. They’re incredibly, incredibly weak. And if you’re Hillary, you gotta be thinking, maybe I ought to jump back in.

As The Daily Wire reported this afternoon, the judge in the James Younger case has effectively nullified the jury verdict by giving the father joint conservatorship over his son, which includes a say in the boy’s “transition.” This would seem to be the best possible outcome we could have hoped for in a messy and tragic situation. It will be up to the father to protect James from here on out. Now, at least, he might have some ability to do that. We can’t know for sure, but it seems likely that the outcry from the public over the last week had a hand in bringing about this decision.
But the public cannot be mobilized every time a child’s gender confusion is encouraged and amplified by abusive parents. As more and more minors follow the trend of identifying as “transgender,” we cannot protect them all from being prescribed “puberty blocker” drugs, which are, as I have written previously, the same drugs used to castrate sex offenders. This is why Republicans in Congress must step in.
There is no situation where it could ever be morally, ethically, medically, or scientifically justified to give a physically healthy child drugs suppressing his normal development simply because he is confused about his biological identity. It is an outrage that medical practitioners engage in this kind of barbarity, and abominable that parents would allow or request it, but that is where we are. Republicans can put a stop to it and should. A bill banning the chemical castration of children would be massively popular everywhere and among everyone, with the exception of the craziest loons way out on the left wing fringes. If Democrats in the House want to appease that deranged mob by explicitly coming out in favor of poisoning and deforming pre-pubescent children with medically unnecessary hormone drugs, let them do it and sign their own political death warrant in the process.
The radical far Left has gotten away with imposing its superstitious, anti-scientific, anti-child, anti-woman theories of gender on the public because the people who know better have been, for various pathetic reasons, reluctant to speak out against it. I get the sense that this self-imposed silence on the part of the sane crowd with regards to the gender issue is finally ending. The Left’s vision of sex and gender is incoherent, self-contradicting, and harmful. Most people can see that well enough, whether they are willing to say it out loud or not. A Republican legislative broadside against this madness is sure to be a winner, politically. It’s also just the right thing to do. So get it done, Republicans.
